this was probably the best rave ive ever had.
VortecFl and I had to race to see which 1.8 was faster. it was soooooo close but in the end i pulled on him. he always got me off the line so i had to play catch up but i managed to get him through 3rd gear. it was a great race an i love showing peeps that these 4 door family cars got a little speed!

btw i know u (ryder) said in earlier posts weeks back that ur motor (1.8) had like 130 hp? whats the torque on that? basewise i have the same HP (u mentioned u wanted to try my TOY) but i wont disclose my torque numbers (toyota is NOT honda they HAVE torque) http://www.tamparacing.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

wow..lot of shit over nothing.. heres the deal...

we ran the first timne.. i went from 2nd to 5th..ooh that hurts.. and of course he wa;ked me... so we started out again and i strated the race.. so i got him bad.. but it was REALLY unfair in my favor.. the third and final good time.. we got a flagger... he started us off.. i out 60 footed his ass really well... grabbed 2nd pretty decently and shifted 3rd REAL slow so as not to miss it this time.. in the 1/4 we were just about side by side.. but i didnt run nearly what i couldve with 3rd gear.. at baout 90-95 he began to pull away and at 100 my front tire was at his front door.. not bad..

of course.. his header and non-cat exhaust hurts him off the line.. but makes up for it in top end power.. whereas i am VERY stock. and yeah his car is stripped(ugh) and his battery is int he truck for some reason.. BTW ryder.. you need to mount that thing.. its just sitting in your spare tire well filling your car with hydrogen.. can we say Japanese Hyndenburg? all in all it was a really close race.. but it dont see that car getting past a 16.2.. when we ran im confident thats about how we wouldve done. ive made so many slow passes at desoto i now know which ones are which... my best is a 15.82 and it was cold as shit out and i nailed 3rd gear like it was nobodys business.. but a kill is a kill even if we DID race 3/8mile.. lol.. id like to run at desoto though..#s dont lie :-D


BTW.. the fresh motor had a Cophers number on it... with a bit of work and some learning.. hell get quicker... Ryder.. a few things will help you alot

1)get your launch down.. learn to slip the clutch a hair.. itll help

2)replace those brakes! sparks arent good!

3)remember not to free-rev too much anymore

4)ditch the wing

5)and lose the exhaust/intake tubing... if youre gonna make it out of somehting at least use something straight.. those bend ripples casue a lot of turbulence therefore losing your air velocity.

6)put the battery back up front. that only works for RWD cars.. youre actually helping the horrible FWD weight transfer. People seem to think that FWDs hook up b/c the wieght of the motor is on the tires but hte opposite is true.. when you launch the weight goes to the rear... see tip #1

7)cats are our friends..use one..at least buy a high flow cat... too little backpressure and youre hurting yourself..

8)if youre gonna gut your car.. GUT it... take out the side palstics ditch the glass windows.. go lexan or plexi and remove the dash.. thin aluminum works great.. ditch the heavy a/c equip and swap in a manual steering rack. all you should have is an alternator. pullit all out if youre gonna do it.. its obviously not a comfortable everyday car so whats there to lose? slap some drag lights in the back and get you some slicks.. thats what i would do..

now before people start getting pissed off (if anyone does) this isnt a flame.. but somehtings to help him out..

just to let u know moving the battery on most front wheel drives work. like in his case yeah it moved some wieght to the back but it got it out from in front of his battery which now gives him a lot more air flow. the same is the case woth my se-r(which is for sale). so im sorry u didnt know what u were talkin about in this case. sorry buddy. stick to rear wheel drive.

ok that smart ass attitude wasnt needed... but i dont see how it would work on some FWDs.. i think i would give up some air flow over not being able to start my car when the engine is hot. running 6 guage wire the whole lenght of the car is not usually the most efficient way. rule of thumb wire gains an ohm of resitance per foot of cable. heat acts as an isulator to voltage flow there fore increasing that resistance. that is why on almost all cars with relocated batteries they are a bitch to restrat once youve been driving for while on a hot day and try to restart it. all i had was a battery disconnect on my mustang and i still had that problem. And ive had an eclectic range of FWD/RWD cars.. dont give me shit please... i addressed that this wasnt needing flames.
