I was on my way home on BB downs Blvd. today in the mid-afternoon when I see a silver newer generation Mitsubishi Eclipse GT rolling next to me. I dont even think about messing with the guy because he was probably in his late 30s and he didnt look like he wanted to race or anything. Although I was curious to see how fast these new Eclipses are. (They are equipped with a 3.0L V6 that makes about 200hp.)
To my suprise and delight a light turns red and we happen to line up. I wasnt really planning on taking off because I didnt think the guy wanted to race. The light turned green and first gear was normal...and all of a sudden he gunned it as I shifted to second! So he jumped about half a car length ahead of me. I floor it at around 4 grand in second and shift to third at 8 grand. As I shift into fourth he was about 3 car lengths behind me. I guess the 200 horses dont make up for the near 3000 lbs of car.
