240 vs Altima

While driving home the other day from work I got onto the 275 from Ulmerton. Chillin a little over the speed limit I didnt notice that an Altima slammed on its nutz was on my ass. I stealthly droped from 5th to 3rd and waited as he crept up beside me. Does anyone notice when you race people both end up dropping and getting on it at the same time instinctive? Anyhow by this time he we were on the bridge. I let her wind through the gears and BOOM GOD DAMN MOTHER F*CKEN govener kicks in at 117 I was two car lengths in front of him when that happened just pulling him like he was my bitch... He must have thought I hit the breaks cause he slowed down as I did and I was just waiting for the govener to turn off so I could keep make sure I kept him as my bitch. Over the top of the bridge and there is traffic so we left our encounter at that. POS govener!!!

Oh man that sucks that your governor kicks in so early. I have a friend with a 91 240 and I believe he has gotten it up to 130. What do you have to your car?

Dont feel bad mine is 107 in the Focus. That is a horrible feeling when you hit the limiter.

You sure he can get up to 130? He had to have taken the sensor off the trani case or he cut the ECU wire otherwise the S13(91) cuts out around 115. Ive got an Apexi intake and Stage 3 Centerfource Dual Friction clutch. And some my own custom Gheto Cold Air Induction System the things we do when we are broke and bored. Other than that it is stock. I took it to the track couldnt hook up worth a sh*t either I launched and lurched or spun BAD. I need some slicks then I can drop it at 3 grand yes even at 3 it will spin bad.

Here ya go. Govener Fix (http://www.240sx.org/faq/articles/spdgov.htm) Im going to check with someone before I go cutting or unpluging things just read the horror story Im not about to loose gears on the HWY. There is a Nissan/Porche specialist good guy put my clutch in cheap.

I dont know. Maybe his speedometer is off by 15 mph. I always thought 240s would go faster than that. Oh well.

They do when you take off the 4th and 5th gear sensors. Its on there for a good reason but sometimes you can take your car up there safely and get denied while other cars (Honda Accord) can go past 140 I am the one with the sports car wasnt it built for things like that?? Oh well one day Ill get ballsy enough to take it off and see how fast shell go.

Given 5 miles my 240 stock would reach more than 115mph. I think the SOHC 240s are governed around 130mph and the DOHC 240s around 115mph. Go figure?

Even still Im governed at 125mph http://www.tamparacing.com/ubb/frown.gif 3rd is good for 112mph. Eventually Jim Wolf Technology (http://www.jimwolftechnology.com) will take care of that.

You got the ECU with the SR swap right? If so its still governed? What trani dod you put in when you did the swap?

yay i have never hit the governer and ive had the se-r up to 135. thats right be fore my rev limiter but i have never hit it in 5th gear. i can hold 4th gear till 120 but it takes while to get to 135 in 5th. it sucks!

I hate my governer my cuts at 135 and it sux ass when you are racing someone that fast and winning then your car cuts off and they keep going. I will take caer of mine when I get off my ass and take my ecu out

Well Epic is talking about me...my car is bone stock. Allz that I know is that when I hit an open stretch of lonely road My needle on my speedo passes 110 (the last number on the speedo) and continues to bury itself at the bottom. Ive NEVER hit my governor before; Ive hit an estimated 127MPH @ 5500 RPM. Could it have something to do with the tranny? Oh wait...I know what it is...it has to be my special edition blue painted valve cover. That makes all the difference in the world.

LOL my custom red cover allows me to glide past 117. Did you buy your car used? Maybe someone disabled it or your car is just a kick ass car. Ever giong to try to see how much further you can bring it to? Im curious to see where a 240 will top end at. I know in 5th gear for every 5mph my tach goes up one line and the rev limiter doesnt kick in until 7. I dont know how long I would run the car at that speed and rev but Im sure itd be hella-coo.
