Ive got a buddy whose got an 04 RSX type-s and he started putting parts on and I think in the midst of things he fucked something up, he said all the problems started when he put an AEM fuel rail on the car. He said his car started running like shit, so he took it into the shop he works at and hooked the scan tool up to it because he was throwing a CEL. Well the CEL said it was a Camshaft positioning sensor. Im in Orlando, and I cant really look at the car and test the sensor or get hands on with the car so I figured id ask on here and see if any of the rsx guys have any input on what the problem could possibly be, or if any of you guys have had any issues like this. A fuel rail has nothing to do with the cam shaft positioning sensor.
The fuel rail really won't increase his performance, so he must have installed it for cosmetic purposes.

Have him follow the factory helm manual's instructions in diagnosing the malfunction indication the vehicle is reporting.

 

maybe it was another mod he did that coincidentally caused the problems when he installed the fuel rail. did he change out cams? cam gears? cam seal? something around the area where the cam sensor would be located and affected.
