when did you start and why? what kind of motorsports and cars were you into before? and what do you like to listen to while your at it? the car or music? if music, what kind? what do you find yourself replacing the most? (other than tires)

you can answer all or some, doesnt matter. post pics of your machine while your at it and give us a basic run down of the modifications.

this thread should be a lot of fun.

(rep will be in order for all serious responses to this thread)

pic of me sucking.......(no homo)

got into drifting back in 2000 in the 8th grade, saw some videos of street drifting and fell in love( my pops is actully the one who showed me)
started looking for a 240 the same year, didnt get a car tho till early 04' started playing around then, got a 86 hatchback also, sold both, got a coupe still rocking out in that car for life... music, back in the day of the 240 i liked hardcore shizz something to pump me up, now, no radio, so if im not singn' to my self, then its the sound of the 2way singn' to me.
and before drifting i was into road racing, auto x...still am tho, and i love to do that kinda stuff, i take that more serious tho, drifting is what i do for run and makes me happy. anyways just my story.

i first started like '04 i think, was into it for a while before i got a car don't ask why i chose an n/a auto supra cause idk, went to dday 1 in st. pete and spectated. the n/a auto poopra, that car was a bitch to drift, it got crashed, tweaked frame, had front tein hr coils, oem clutch type lsd, catback, hks filter, supra type r momo wheel. been through a bunch of cars, but for one reason or another they never got finished. now i have a 1990 mazda 929S, have a decent job, access to parts, etc so i really hope i actually finish this one. um mods are: Bride Brix, 340mm Nardi Torino, FC3S steering wheel hub, cut springs that suck, 16x7 +36 (i think) Advan SA3's in the front with an 8mm spacer, 17x8 +5 Stich Mesh in the back with bat rolled and badly pulled fenders, and a sweet little jdm vip cupholder table. fc3s jic coils are on the next container, i'm gonna work on getting a new exhaust welded up soon, piece together 5spd, weld the diff, and do a shit ton of maintenance and hopefully have it decent by this time next year and head out to events. i don't like to listen to music when i drive because then i can't hear my car breaking or parts falling off. pics as soon as i find the camera.

I don't remember when I first learned about drifting. But I'm on my 2nd running 240, and my 4th RWD car. I haven't made it out to any events yet cause my car always seems to be broken when theres an event.

If I listen to music, it's usually some kind of hardcore scream-o stuff.

Hmm, I'll post I guess.
I wouldn't say I am really 'into' drifitng as many would perceive it, but I like to go slide.

I have to say the first time I experienced power sliding was when my brother slide my moms mustang around a corner down a dirtroad.

Now I've got my Cougar who is...under the weather but will slide just fine for me in the stock form. I plan on buying some stuff to get her a bit more under control, but she's fine the way she is IMO.

The only car I've ever slid in was the Cougar, which doesn't have a radio, so I listened to the motor and my buddy screaming.

I've only replaced tires, oh well and gas, she sucks it down like no tomorrow.

No mods...

when did you start and why?

I started getting into "drifting" back in 2000 when I finally got my gt-s running. I used to post on club4AG and those guys were just getting into it then. That's how I found out about "drifting".

I just like beating on things with engines. Anywhere from r/c car to motorcycles, karts, cars, trucks while pulling trailers!

what kind of motor sports and cars were you into before?

I grew up around my dad's MOPAR shit. My grandfather used to race SB Chevys in the roundly rounds locally. So I started getting into racing karts locally. Raced them for a while and then didnt really have the money to continue. So I sold my kart.

And I bought a kawi MX bike and started running it. Got boared with that. then When I turned 15 I started running the circle track in a shit box nova...Around 16 I got a corolla gt-s coupe and started building it. While I was building it I bought a 89 s13 fastback to go to school. I had alot of fun with that car.

what do you like to listen to while your at it?

I like the engine. Sometimes Jungle though.

what do you find yourself replacing the most? (other than tires)

Old suspension parts....

I think I actually started drifting in like March-April of this year. I'd done a few ebrake entry slides in a parking lot before that, but I was just fucking around and didn't really know or care what I was doing. Then this spring My friend Brett (aka stocksc300 or whatever) got a Wrexus and started drifting all the time, so I started going to spots with him. I went to an event at OSW in May and was hooked, I've been drifting regularly since then.
Before drifting I was into drag racing.
I don't listen to music when I drive, I need to hear my car. My car is too loud to hear the music anyway.
Here's a pic of my Rx7:

Back in 2002 met some guys at school who showed me options and OG tampa video Ala wetting down turn with miles of hose. Played GT3 drifting. Built my S13 for the 1st time with sweet parts like. 5 Zigen Typhoons, and Tein S techs with AGX's and shits like that. Redtop SR before they were everywhere.

Went out stret drifting a few times after I finished it. Then off to Dday 1, 2 (car didnt run good at all) and a couple of other drift events. Haven't been to many since I did a major overhaul of the car, but I plan on making to sebring soon.

http://a259.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/45/l_a10a5ce3001f1b5fd49e7e68ba9af072.jpg

Engine needs new valve seals and TC bracket repair but after that I plan on taking it to some more events.

If I had my old computer I would upload pictures of me actually drifting but since that thing is dead im to lazy to scoure the internet for them

Edit: Found some

well i first started hearing about it when i was in 7th grade, i was getting into imports like crazy thanks to the original Gran Turismo. my friend then started telling me that he had gotten this old manga and told me about these cars racing on the japanese mountains. he brought it in, let me borrow it and i got hooked. i started looking the cars up and in the process i found out what drifting was and started looking up option videos. then on i found what i love. i saw xat's site for the first time maybe 3 or 4 years back and saw they had a corolla for sale. just then i had seen Mikes wagon in the pics(mranlet) and thought wait a sec thats awd subaru, that can't drift, why does it say slide or die on it? lol well anyways i got a reality check and saw mike drifting his wagon into the tampa lanes parking lot rolling in with marks old baller hachi. i started talking to them alot, found out that mike lived 4 houses down from me and he then brought me along to a DG event. I started hanging out at Xat thanks to Casey, learning a shit ton thanks to mostly Mike and Mark. i got a cressida that i tried to build up but due to the problems it had i needed a car fast so i got this:http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb274/jgtc500_10/Photoshoot022.jpg
ive been sliding around everyonce in a while but its super hard on open diff. i havent had to change anything yet, and im going to have my diff welded before the next desoto event on the 26th and see how i do

first car was a pick up truck. its obvious how that worked out. Not to mention ive always been a huge Gran Turismo fan. I fell in love with the 240 when Sport Compact started their project silvia. The first mag that car was in, before the SR swap article, they had a 13 coupe with a bomex front bumper, it was red, I wanted one of my own. A few weeks later I sold my truck and bought a 13 coupe. Thats about it, been doin stuff since. My 14 is my 3rd S chassis.

99/2000 for me. Lived on a mountain in CT and tried to cut faster and faster times every time I drove on it. Modified my 1st gen Legacy Touring Wagon to a high level of tune and kept overcoming traction to avoid understeer in the pursuit of speed. (Started AWD, sorry no surviving pics)

Moved to FL, figured those days were over and got a getaround Ford ZX2

Saw that other people in the world were doing this drifting thing when DDay 1 came around. Took up my old ways in my CRX at the time and about 2 years ago bought my BG6 Legacy Wagon and converted it to RWD.

I've been driven by drifting for a long time, but have typically spent more time organizing and running events than driving, so I'm still marginally skilled at best (plus my car is a bit of a handicap).

It looks so gangster like this.

I went up to XAT a while back, and saw it like that, and thought it was fucking hotness.
