Buddy of mine just got his EG Civic running, figured I'd give him a run... I have a '98 Dodge Neon R/T. Ran from a 20mph roll (he has bad mounts), I wanted to go from a dig. Let him jump infront then I just leaned into it. Must have pulled 3-4 buses on him, to quote Billy who was riding with me "I couldn't tell if you were racing a car or a bike by the headlights, he was that far behind". Ran to 100mph then got on the brakes. :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

He has a D15b7 fresh swap into a 5spd with a few bolt-ons. Just letting you Honda kids know that this Neon isn't your grandma's brokedown peice of shit.

I agree they're not fast, but the average Honda kid thinks they have a damn racecar. The select handfull of fast, well built Hondas do get my respect. My car runs pretty well with B16 swapped Civics. Still got a couple small things that are killing me, but it's coming around.

Like I said, I've ran a few "quick" cars but nothing lately. I wanna run another B16 hatch when I get a chance. Last one I ran was a good race, was within a car and starting to reel him in slowly. Just really wanna get these cams swapped out, everyone says it's cutting out atleast 15hp.

It's a descent shifter, I made the one that was in my other car and I loved it. This one sits pretty high so it looks completely stock, so does most of the engine bay and entire car. Not sure what kinda power I'm pushing, should be running 14's on street tires without spray. Been talking to some guys, been told I can do a 125 shot tuned and still be pretty safe.

As long as you tune it right you should be safe on almost any level of spray, till you get to ridiculous amounts. I just remembered my C5 May or may not be sprayed. I have the system installed, but I dont know how soon Ill be able to get the Hondata chip and tune for it. Other than that the only mod ill have is a cold air intake and cat back. Ill be putting about 200 to the wheels.

I wish your saying worked with hondas though. Real Japanese Muscle? Not so much :lol:

Its an all motor stock body neon.... The cams are killing him and most of the other mods dont do much for performance minus the higher compression. 14's sound ok to me ....... you need to put that turbo kit back on and get it tuned on some low boost :crack:.

post people dont know anything about them, they think all 4 cyl's are the same, but they really are, the neon has about the same TQ as it does HP and u cant throw shit onto it and expect it to run right....they also sound good w/ exhaust if done right as well(NA and turbo)

The LS1 civic has already been done. I prefer my wrong wheel drive, it has excellent understeer correction characteristics :D . The JRSC will add enough torque to get the car to ~2500rpm when "vtec kicks in y0", then the "powa" takes over. Plus, I know of a turbocharged C5 with only a mls head gasket that pushes 300hp at 12psi and has been daily driven for over two years. So you add on top of that better internals with pistons instead of a gasket to take the CR down to 9:1 and my little weed wacker Honda should run as long as anything.

few mods its easy to kill a b16, watch the vid in my sig i have a race against a b16 crx which was a kill no problem. ive tried to change the bad name but it desnt work people are set in their ways and thoughts. as far as saying a waste of money mdding any car is. my neon performance was just a built head with bigger injectors and mopar comp along with a 75 shot.
for my current build im realistically thinking of getting around 450-500whp and about $3,000 into the engine plus tuning. i think a neon and 3,000 is worth it when your beating many imports and even alot of muscle cars around(granted yes someone is and will always be faster no matter what)

I agree, I've seen plenty of fast Civic's but the majority of Civic owners are the Discount Auto Parts/Home Depot sponsored one's who "mod" their mom's grocery getters and think they're fast. My car stock could have easily beat this car, I'm hoping it was more a of wakeup call that sounded like "Hey, your car isn't fast."

On the track there are a lot of things that come into play that could give him slower times. One of which is altitude and temperature. Not to mention how you shift and if you hit the rev limmiter at all. Drag racing aint always that easy for some to learn. The best thing you could ever do is to get the timing of the lights down pat to improve your reaction time. I had at one point gotten mine down to below .350 sec. It is all in knowing the lights and timing your launch accordingly. My worst time ever was about 1.250 sec. Just remember, your there to have fun unless it is a true grudge thing...lol.

was grudge match racing and I couldnt find anyone to run, the track guy that found em came down and said "found someone to race ya, but its a 12 second car" was like "cool"
I didnt care I was running against the clock all day anyways.needed baselines, so I'll know how much I improved with what parts. car wasnt emptied of extra weight, had a full tank, wasnt trying to run it cool or anything. probally coulda dipped into the 16's but hey it was a blast. Its cool bro I understand no worries.

The best reaction time you can get, and what all the pro guys shoot for is .000

You have to learn to launch on the yellows at the right time, and theres a good chance of red lighting. a .350 is pretty crappy, my best reaction time was a .17 at sunshine, and that includes the time it took for my slow ass car to cross the beams

i did forget to mention that everyone last night was having a hard time geting traction out to about the 40ft mark. the left lane was alright for a while, then everyone wanted that lane. after a while that lane was bad too. it didnt help that they were soaking the burnout area with way too much water causing the staging area to get extremely slick. i was spinning all the way through first everytime in either lane.

Yea stg1 would really help otherwise u throw codes with the new wga, either way just a wga didn't really help me though my car went 13.6 stock, and now best it's seen is 13.3 but a hell of alot more consistant, 13.6 was flukey <--sp, but no complaints from me i love this car.

Neons do great in a straight line, I've never auto-x'd and i don't have the tires for at i know that atleast, i dropped the car inch in the front inch and a half in the back on the mopar stg 1 springs, and I wouldn't mind trying to auto-x the car I just haven't had the opportunity to. I did take an M3 to the track and had a good time not sure it will be as easy to drive the neon.

ok so i'm on the LIE and I installed all my pulleys at my friends house. So I take it for a spin on the LIE and as I was coming out of the side had to completely stop because of 2 second heavy heavy traffic. Once it cleared I floored it. My car actually spins out for like 5 long seconds and I left a cloud of smoke, it does it all the time now. That was pretty much a smoke signal for the trooper 300 yards ahead.
So I get up to around 75 and he catches me. I see a trooper zooming behind me so I immediately slow down and pull over. He asks for Liscense and registration he then starts snooping around my car and I noticed he touched the aftermarket kia symbol on my hood. I read the guys lips and he says "wow". lol. He goes back, puts in the info and comes back and says "ok listen here son, you got another speeding ticket on your license. Thats 6 points, 6 points ya here. If I give you this tickt you'll have 12 and your license will be suspended. may not seem that serious to you but its very bad, very god damn bad. I understand you got a god damn kia that can haul azz on my victoria but you gotta slow down, take it down a notch!.....I'm pretty impressed that this is a kia by the way. I'm gonna give you a warning. SLOW DOWN!!!

depends on where you are at and what your are doing...


could be a .000 tree, or a .500 tree, or even a .400 tree.

the only way to tell is if its says -.490 (its a 500 tree), if it says .111 it is a 000 tree.

and youll know when you see a .400 tree :lol:



the funny thing was, is the kia guy seemed to think that the reaction time held some sort of relevance to your actual ET, and it doesnt....you staging does though, there can be 2 tenths or more difference in your ET just between staging shallow or deep.

1. You drive a kia. I wont believe any kia can spin its tires at all until someone comes to my house and shows me.

2. If your kia could induce wheelspin on more than one wheel for that long, you wouldn't have any tires left.

3. If the cop actually did mouth the word "wow" he was probably thinking to himself "wow, this *#'^@box managed to spin its tires"(if that did in fact happen).

4. No kia on the planet will ever outrun a police interceptor. Ever. Your 138(or 145 with that supercharger) crank hp of fury will never match the monster V8 ford happened to put under the hood of that car(Ive driven several interceptors).

5. When the cop said he was impressed it was a kia, he meant he was impressed it had more than one cylinder and could put the 5 horsepower to the wheels required by highway traffic.
