Nice! Get ready to do a steering rack, because if it had rod knock they probably didnt pay attention to what fluid to use (ATF, NOT POWER STEERING! All 3 of my Toyotas had this problem)

With 1UZs going for $500, I'd think it would be hard to consider a JZ swap..are you planning S/C or turbo?

Well the car has no rod knock....im guessing previous owner does not know too much about cars , but it was the water pump going bad. Witht that in mind i think i will just keep the motor stock for know since they are already a very powerful motor and work on the looks, making it a full out VIP car.
If any i will put an intake and exhaust!

Um...very powerful? stock 1UZ? Toyota NEVER makes a car with more than "adequate" power from the factory. The best part about the headers is that they are interchangeable, so you can point them both forward for a single turbo setup. Stock headers dont flow for shit though...full I/E on it with some here and there should yield 250-280wHP

Not to worried about the motor right now, but will get the I/E!

Thats a baller ass car! I say just do a twin turbo setup on it.

So, let me get this straight. You bought that car for $500 and the only thing that was wrong with it was a water pump?

Griffin400
10-10-2007, 08:45 AM
YES!!! The previous owner heard metal on metal grinding and thought it was a rod knock but actually it was the water pump hitting the fan!

+1 for that. my buddy has had 3 Mk3 supras (all turbo) and he bought them all for around 500-800 bucks when they ran, he ran em til they blew a head gasket, then sold em on ebay for 2k+.
