View Full Version : What is the best Complete Coilover set out there for Hondas?

Outkasted24

I am having a hella time trying to choose which Complete coilover system to purchase for my new Honda Project.

My Options are as follows............In Order from my most to least favorite

-K-Sport
-Form & Function
-D2
-Omni Power
-Skunk2
-Tein
-Apex-i
-Cusco
-NRG
-Ground Control
-Tanabe Sustic Pro
-BuddyClub
-HKS
-NEX

Unlike some of you Ballers out there, I have a Budget.
I'm looking to spend no more then $875-$900 MAX

I really want a Fully Adjustable Coilover System, I'm done with Shock/sleeve coilover/spring suspensions and I want something a little bit more edgy this time around.

I do Plan on Auto-x'ing this vehicle for fun, But it's also going to have to be my DD until sometime in early '08.

Please feel free to give your opinions, And If you have actually had hands on experience with one or more of these systems...... I'd love to hear your testimonial.

Also, With your coilover system, Were you ever able to "Dog Leg"/ 3 wheel motion your Vehicle?

Thanks in advance.

-Jeff

ksport=D2 if i remember right, both are great for the price from what i hear, but it looks like your top 4 will set you straight

these are just opinions though, based solely off hearsay, i have no first hand experience :)

So-far, I think I'm going to go with Form & Function.
Has anyone had first hand experience with this setup?

http://http://www.jhpusa.com/catalog/images/funcform.sus.jpg
Function Form is a 24 way damper and rebound adjustable monotube full coilover system. The setup has separate height and preload adjustments allowing for optimal adjustment and allowing full strut travel at all times along with pillowball upper mounts or top mounts*. Mounts are constructed of 6061 powder coated aluminum with T6 for added strength. Threads are Teflon coated to prevent rust. Rebuildable and serviceable in the US. 1 YEAR MANUFACTURER WARRANTY

+1 on the PIC selects. they are gaining a lot of support with the honda challenge guys and they are only like $900 or so.
i was going to get them, but found out i can get a good deal on a set of Stance coilovers, which is what i really wanted.

good choice...i would say go with PIC or Ground Conrol with Koni yellows...that is what all the ITR guys use on honda-tech. I personally have tried ground controls and loved them, and ive also tried function and form and hated them

Outkasted, let me know when you get the PICs how they ride and everything. I'm also upgrading my suspension and was looking into them but my car is my daily/auto X car for now and I was wondering how they were from someone that has them on the car.

Yeah Buddy, I'll let you know when the get installed.... Probably the second week of November or so.
As soon as the car is done I'll be showing up to some of the meets/shows, I'll take ya around the block so you can feel first hand how the coilovers handle.

Yeah, I believe Megan makes coilover kits for almost all popular makes and models now a days.
They look nice (from what I've seen), But in my mind it's just another cheap ebay brand that stole the design from someone else and mass produces their product.

PIC Performance on the other hand is just a bit more money, But they back their product up 100%, They have graphs and guides to prove the performance aspect of their product, The company is actually a father/Son team that professionally races and uses all of their products to compete, They have had a few setbacks and design changes in the past 2 years and are not afraid to post their once weaknesses and show how they fixed it.

The materials that PIC use are rigoursly bench tested and cost a bit more money, But in the long run they won't fail a year or two down the road and if they do, The company stands behind the replacement.
They also design their own materials (oil mixtures in their coilovers and rubber/poly mixture in their own produced bushings.

PIC in my mind is a true professional Company that stands behind their belief, materials, and design..... and is willing to but the money where their mouth is, Kinda like what Benen Industries evolved out of.

Those look really nice.

I'm suspension shopping, too and until this thread I was pretty dead-set on Omni Powers (independent adjustable preload/ride-height, non-adj dampers). Where did you order your PICs from? I'm curious...

Also, why did you get the LCAs? Other than poly bushings and marginal weight savings (and looking way cooler than stock), I can't find a reason to get them. Is there something I don't know?

I ordered them from Matt Lang @ MLR Motorsports: Race prepping, Race Car Building, and Acura & Honda Performance Aftermarket Parts (http://www.mlrmotorsports.com) , located in Bedminster, NJ.

Reason I ordered the LCAs : Light weight Forged 6061-T6 aluminum arm, with aerospace-grade spherical bearings replacing the outboard and inboard hard-rubber bushings, and polyurethane replacing the center shock-mount bushing to eliminate deflection (unwanted camber and toe changes during suspension travel.

They also look bling under the car, and it gives me a better spot to mount an end-link for a JDM ITR Swaybar .........vs. the crap/few choices of aftermarket sways produced only for the DA.
