Where is a good place to get a legal helmet for the track?

Does it need DOT and Snell for Bradenton?

It was $20 and not crowded at all, compared to tracks during the winter time. Didn't get to run though, I was second in line and it started raining

I went to 1320 and after run number 3 they shut me down, might just be because i have a vert. But my fellow vert owner friend was just warned and told not to worry about it till next time...They just straight up said gotta have a helmet to me. :( Atleast it rained on those fuckers.

Snell is more for bikes. DOT approved helmets are fine for a car.

Wal Mart has good helmets, believe it or not. They look shitty, but they are quality helmets. That Autozone or whatever it does up by Gaither highschool also has good helmets.

From Snell's website:

Snell SA2000 - M2000: Our customerss have asked what the difference is between a Snell SA2000 and M2000 certification for a helmet. All Snell tests for these specifications include multiple impact tests at -20 degrees, 78 degrees (dry and wet) and 120 degrees. The Snell M2000 specification is the base for the specs. The SA2000 - used primarily for auto racing - adds not only the thicker shield, but also the use of flame retardant paint, trim, retention strap and interior. The Snell SA2000 helmet also meets an additional rollbar impact test.

No info on what the ratings mean, but it explains the differences between DOT and Snell.

Here's another one. I'll take the Snell rated one, okaythanks.

The rule is 13.99 or faster. Most tracks don't mind if you're running in the 13's and don't have a helmet. Bradenton also give you one warning for getting a helmet. Then you have 30days from the warning to get one. If they spot you after that and you're on the "list" then they won't let you run.

Thanks amanda, I completly forgot it was 8.49 in the 1/8th. No wonder why I was getting the stink eye from the guy at the slip booth when I went 8.51 in my buddies firebird a while back. At least I had a cage and a 5 point harness. LOL

i went 8.20 and 8.40 at sunshine and they never said anything about a helmet.

at bradenton i went 13.37 they told me i needed a helmet (while i was in the lanes, but they let me run that one without one)
