Ok im rolling on 15's now, and after my drop (thanks to Outkasted24 :)) their is still like 1/2 and inch maybe an inch left of space before its considered slammed....So i was wonderin will 17's help the problem or be worse to close that little gap?

Also the springs have not yet settled but i doubt they will fill up that much of the left over space....

Thanks
-Kyle

Lowering springs just lower it, not slam it. 17"s might help a little but you are still prolly gonna have a little gap. On all of my cars that have been slammed I just cut the lowering springs lol. Lol check out my pictures under members rides, it's tucking pretty bad since I cut the springs lol.

Kyle, what size tires do you have on those 15"s

95/65/15 :(

I might just come back to you and have you cut a little bit of the springs would that be a good idea? because the back is alright but the front still sits a little high for my taste

Yes, That is very do-able :D
That's what I did with my Tein springs, A little snip snip and she sits perfect!!!

As for the wheels, Yes!!! A 17" wheel with a basic 205 or 215/40/17 will definitely close the gap a bit more then it is now.

Keep in mind by going to a larger diameter rim it "might" give you an overall larger diameter tire (depending on what sidewall you go with). Meaning your overal final drive ratio will numerically be lower and your acceleration will be slower. -Mark

well lets say i get 15's with a smaller side wall for tires...

195-65-15s wow try 205-45-16s or 215-40-17s those should work. But if you stay with 15s 205-50-15s

Here is a tire size calculator. It's a real help in figuring out the overall diameter of the wheel and tire.
Tire size calculator (http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html)

damn u guys where joking about the tire size diameter... i might be buying sum rims off a friend but they are 205/40/17 , and from what that calculator says ima be going almost 5mph slower then normal and i need to bump up tire size to 205/50/17 to keep my stock speedo configuration.

for referance, the white car is mine, its a lower drop on 17s, and my girlfriends car is the green one, dropped maybe an inch less on 16 inch wheels, same tire size, respectively

yeah my car looks like ur girls car right now, but only thing im still skeptical of is the whole 195/65/15 vs 205/40/17 deal with my mph and mileage... do you face the same problem? or no

Outkasted24
12-06-2007, 08:49 PM
If I were you,...........I wouldn't let the possible 5mph difference change the decision on whether to go 15" or 17" rim/tire size.

jlude90

it doesn't bother me, but retrospectively, for performance i'm going to have to go with a smaller wheel, the look is pretty decent with the 17, but i have to go back to 13s

but no, your MPH probably isn't that accurate any more anyways, and i highly doubt you drive exactly the speed limit anyways...

and i got 30+ MPG on my prelude carb'd that dropped a cylinder so fuel economy was no issue
