I work for Verizon and there are certain areas that suck thats for sure and then there are areas that have hardly no issues at all (speaking of the copper side or traditional telephone service). I'm sure it's the same for Brighthouse. I've talked with some Brighthouse techs which pretty much said the same thing.

As far as customer service goes, I can imagine having a live person answering calls has to be expensive, but these big companies need to realize that bad customer service (namely automated systems) can piss off a customer FAST! I think Brighthouse might have Verizon there, but I was told the other day that Verizon was talking about changing the system to make getting a live person on the phone easier.


Anyway it sucks that your having troubles already. Hopefully they'll get you hooked up and running. Since I can't get DSL or FIOS in my area yet, I have brighthouse internet/tv and for the most part it's not too bad.

The minute I can get FIOS though, I'll switch, and not just because I work for Verizon but because I know how good it is.

Fios is crap in this area,
When you can get a HD signal, the sound cuts out every now and then and then when it does work the picture only does 720, the customer service sucks (wasn't on hold long) when I did get a person it was the copper wire dept, which hung up on me after they looked me up and found I was on fios. I called back only to hear that they cant help me and that they didnt have the fios number (a lie) when they installed the setup they used brighthouse's wire and brighthouse came out to disconnect and take the box off the wall(my request) they unhooked the verizon stuff and said that they owned the cable and verizon was not allowed to hook up to it. (understandable) I called verizon and they sent a tech out to fix it who lied to me by saying that they ran new wire. (the wire is marked Brightwire- Brighthouse's private markings)
The wire was also painted in a few places from when I painted the house. so I know it wasnt their wire. The billing is so messed up, I was without movie channels off and on for a month (you never knew when it would work) because apparently the billing dept had not added them to my bill but the tech dept had the order for it so the system would turn them off when it did an internal
audit. (was told by Escalation tech) Then my On demand wouldnt work for 3 days then it worked for 2 then back off for 2. then I found out after complaining 2 times to customer service that the HD pictured sucked and was only showing 480, that my HD box was never switched on allowing only SD programming. and the HD has crashed in my DVR's (two of them ) I had to spend 2 1/2 hours in one day talking to the CS people just to get a credit for
my HD programming I never received. Then on top of that I scheduled an appointment to have them look at my Internet Connection which was as slow as dial up, They made me first go through about 20min of optimization then set an appointment that they never showed up for and the Billing is even worse 3 months in a row I have gotten bills for over $350, so much for their $99/Mo special, this on top of the sales person down right lying to me when I
Signed up for the service.

VERIZON SUCKS!!!!...at least in my experience

BTW Brighthouse sucks too but never this bad. just dont have Knight do the work when you have it hooked up. ($3500 in damage) and last time they came here they put a hole in my Screen and cut one of my IR Repeater Lines.
$15K in Home theatre and they bumped around in here like Bumbling idiots.
And were escorted out last time. (at threat of bodily harm and Shotgun Blasts)

all my issues were solved and i got two months for free.

believe it or not a god damn knight tech was here until after midnight.

he left a cable modem hanging by a cable in a closet two feet from the ceiling, and no place to plug in power.

a supervisor came the next day and fixed everything.

honestly, I love Brighthouse...have HD DVR and interweb and I've never had an issue.....and I've tested my interweb speed and it's usally about 2.5mb above what I'm paying for.....

eh, I'd rather have good, reliable service...then I don't need to deal with customer service....

my install went fine....my Knight guy smelled like booze and it was 10am...but I left him alone and he did a good job...never had an issue since.... and that was three years ago...

the knight guys I had the first time (they always send 2 guys out to my house, I dont know why, 2 and their helpers) they drilled through my stucco really low on the wall and never filled the hole with silicone or anything and water came in during a regular storm, not a big one either and it killed my Hardwood floor and every time it rained it got worse (didnt know it was leaking because it was behind couch) it then killed 2 tactile transducers, a power strip (APC HT one at around $200) and it molded the underside of the couch frame, the wall in between and the only way we found out is a moldy smell that never went away. So I went looking for it and found the damage. Time Warner (at the time) took care of the repairs but only after getting 4 estimates, telling me to claim it on my insurance (which wouldnt cover it) and Took it to an attorney who then had to set a court date (none of it cost me a dime, they paid the court costs) but long story short knight hires anyone who can drill a hole.

The second time they had 2 guys in Theatre 2 guys outside running new Homerun. the 2 guys outside dislodged some of my shingles and the guys inside punched a hole in my screen.
needless to say I got into an altercation.
BTW this is after there was a note on my account that says NO Knight Ind.

the brandon area is the shit for verizon lol, a few weeks ago when we had a really bad storm right after the storm ended they were out n fixed everything

We don't need them either. We just make them come out and install new stuff once in a while, and they're awesome. Husband's mom makes the guy fix her computer stuff while he's here. :lol:

point is they have to fix everything, govt phone lines are verizon, they will lose their contract if they dont, in alabama my old post's lines used to go down all the time, the govt stepped in and took over certain lines and confiscated the rights to the lines, then they had their own people out there fixing them. happened in new orleans during katrina too, declared them as federal infrastructure and cut all unnecesary lines and used good ones. Airlines are same way, we need them and they refuse to bump a paying customer, the Govt takes over the flight and bumps everyone but flight crew. it happens alot more than you know about, the FAA requires during time of war that all federally licensed carriers fly "free" Military flights into war zone.
thats why most troops fly commercial into iraq. or at least into other places first like turkey or spain then switch to military air.
Brighthouse btw does not fall under the infrastructure clause, they are still considered an internet provider even on the phone side runs through what is classified as a point to point modem. The verizon trucks you prob saw were getting the fiber for copper stuff up. (conventional) it took them a week to fix ours last time it went out but the copper people had theirs up the same day.
also when the hurricanes hit that year the Cable never went out but the phones were out for a couple days. I was watching cable and using roadrunner but had no phone. The government is trying to pass a internet infrastructure law soon, that gives people in larger cities very low cost wireless broadband. The numbers I have seen in the reports are like $5/MO
its going to piggyback on the cell towers.

I have an interest in this because I have investments in Wire and cable companies and Verizon.
Good investment, bad service.
