I currently have a stock keyless entry on my car, but it doesn't make sound when I lock or unlock the truck. I would really like to have an audible confirmation instead of trying to watch my lights to see if it locked or not. Does anyone know how I may be able to do this? Could I hook an alarm siren to the keyless system to get a chirp or is there something else I could use?
Sometimes you have to press lock twice to get a sound, but I bet you've already tried this.
I'd just get a relay and tap it into your door lock wires and have it sent to a small siren to chirp when you've locked or unlocked.
2006 Toyota Tacoma. If you just want it to alert when locking only, you have to grab the purple wire in the driver side kick panel in the 10 pin connector-pin#4. It will test a negative pulse when you hit the door lock button. Get a relay. Hook the purple door lock wire to pin 86 on the relay. Hook pin 85 to constant battery power (you could use the white/red stripe wire at the ignition switch for constant power). Then hook pin 87 to a chassis ground. Finally, hook pin 30 to the horn trigger wire-found in the 18 pin connector at the fuse box, pin #10. Every time you hit the lock button though either through the switch inside or the remote, you will energize the relay therefore chirping your horn for a split second. It is possible to add a second relay that is tied to the ignition feed that will keep the horn from chirping when you use the lock switches in the truck with the key on if it annoys you, but it is a little complex for the DIY'er. If this all sounds too complex, give me a call and we can do it for you or sell you the relay harness/relay cheap-you can also purchase the parts from the local Radio Shack. Pretty easy. Good luck!
lol my version was the cliffnotes. :P
nice little writeup mcor.

Well, from the keyless module, so you dont press the "unlock button" and get a horn honking every time.
