Was wondering if anyone was familiar with the 01 crown vic radio? Its double din but i think there is a computer in the dash that is un-cut-able about half way back at the top, and im trying to put a double din dvd in there with a deep, tall back.
anyways, just wondering if anyone had any cheaper alternatives, rather than moving the ac controls and getting a whole new dash. Or if anyone has ever had a a similar situation what they did.

well they are the same size on the outside ..im not too familiar with the econoline inner workings behind that radio, but theres also a huge lip that hangs over the top of the radio, therefore nullifing the option of a flip out dvd.
the deepness and size to the amp part of the 2 din dvd player is too much for the crown vic, because theres some sort of a/c unit or computer or something back there.
top pic is crown vic 2001, bottom is econoline 2001

If im not mistakin both of your radios are exactly the same. The bottom part extends out to the normal length of a radio and the top part is about a quater or half the lenth of the radio. Like you said above. Call audio itch and ask them if they have ever done a double din in your year vic and asked what they did. Ive only put single din units into the Ecololine and Vic so im not sure
People do double dins in the Ford rangers, You just have to trim the stock bezel a bit.
