1/0 run from front of Escalade to rear...Check
Kinetik HC-2000 battery....Check
Sundown SAZ-3000D 3kw RMS amp...Check
1/0 power and ground for 3kw amp...check
300 amp inline fues for 3kw amp...check
3.5 Cu. Ft. enclosure, tuned to 38 Hz...Check
8 lag screws for woofer mounting...check

1 12 inch woofer...huh...yep, all that for 1 12

SPL numbers to follow...once we break this monster in!!

It is loud, though, and its soaking up all that sundown can give out.

We're also running a set of Critical Mass C652 6 1/2 seperates on a Sundown SAZ-100.2, 2x100 rms. These things are amazing!. Thats all we have in for mids and highs, and that's all we need. carbon fiber cones, neo magnets, 24db xovers...amazingly clean, and bright, with great midbass, even though I just stuck them in the rammatted doors.

that box just doesn't look big enough for the sub. I cant wait to see what that puts out on the termpro

Is the whole floor part of the box? Or only made to look like it...

Toby...what exactly are you running for electrical, just a single HC2000? Or batt up front and a HC2000 in the back? Hows voltage doing with the 3000?

Miles

is that the finished install?

yes its a finished install, i wonder what it would hit on a meter

Miles

going with a big emphasis function over form on that one i guess?

No, its not finished. Not 100% sure how we are going to finish it yet, though.

I like the overall concept...better than just a big square box, but it needs to blend in more, I think. That and some small finishing things, like the port, and a couple of the wires.

the HC2000 is in parallel with a yellow top up front. Voltage holds up pretty well, except on really big bass notes, or on tones. If I were going for comp, I'd probably go bigger or second alternator, but I think it will be fine for daily use.

My first impression would be that box design/shape is going to affect the overall output of the sub.

That's a safe statement, since the box design/shape of any box affects the output of the sub...:D

Running for office, John?

Lol, sorry, I meant to add "negatively" affect the output of the sub...compared to a more traditional enclosure. Post up some numbers once you get it tested though.

Those amps are threatening looking, the sub looks kinda like a flea market special though with a massive surround and giant 5000watts written on it.

Yeah, I could do without the '5000 watts' stuck on the cone. I hear the next gen won't have that anymore.

Got some early DB numbers...on 35hz 'bombs' (short, repetitive burps), 143.2. I think there is still some left, as the waveform was still very clean, and this woofer is far from broken in. I'll try it again sometime, with the gains turned up some more, and some more miles on the sub. It sounds louder than that, and it plays the low note REALLY well.

Whats really amazing is the sound quality of this thing. There is no mudiness at all, no 'huffing' noises on male spoken voice, and the accuracy is phenominal. I thought I knew what good, clean, accurate, sub bass sounded like...I have a new definition.

Still have to finish the install...I like the overall concept of the box and amp rack, but it needs something...

it looks good. it would look better if the carpet was black...but it wouldnt match the seats...right?

some better carpet would make it look a lot better....interesting design though....it's nice that you get to retain the use of most of the floorspace in the cargo area...and yea, take a sharpie and black out the center of that sub.....:P

I would pull the MDF top piece off and fiberglass a pod like structure for the sub to mount to. would flow better imho.

143 is still awesome from one sub. who cares about how it looks - hes still got the entire hatch to store/carry things :D

Why would you want it black? Yeah, it wouldn't match the entire interior, not just the seats

pretty cool concept on that install. the ul12 only weighs like 15 pounds or something along those lines dosen't it? its an amazing sub.

Maybe its the picture, but that is some of the best automotive carpet you can buy. It is very thick, and it is 72" wide, so no seams.
