Default Help a buddy out- 88 stock 305, what can it handle?

I'm guessing not much, but here goes.

Kid (I know your watching so feel free to chime in ) has an 88 TA with an Edelbrock carb and manifold. Supposedly the engine has been rebuilt/bored over. I can probably manage a compression/leak down this weekend, but supposing that checks out, what are the mechanical limits of this engine?

I know the 350 is the all singing all dancing block out there, but was just curious as to how much fun we could delve out of this one.

Thanks ahead of time.

ive seen some decent #s, but it was outta a 305 that had special heads designed for the 305 due to the smaller bore

On a 250 shot.

I wouldnt take it past cheap bolt ons. If you want any real power, you need to step up to the plate. There is a reason you dont see fast 305's running around.

it can handle 40-50 papers safely, anymore, and it becomes an unstable paperweight and a workplace accident waiting to happen.
