I know it's recommended to have a filter connected to the turbo's inlet to prevent the suction of debree, dust, and other particles into the motor. But would you gain more HP without a filter then you would with one?

i've seen gains of over 60 whp an a number cars by taking the filter off.

couple examples:

b18 itr cams, t3t4/57trim, hondata, precision intercooler @15 psi = with filter 360whp, without filter 430whp

b16 stock engine, t3t4/50trim, aem ems, full race style kit @ 9 psi = 220whp with filter, 290 whp without.

depends on the filter, but they are pretty restrictive regardless what they are. you should run one for daily driving and take it off for races.

of course theres a gain as there is no air restriction but is it worth the price of a turbo or worse-a motor?

depends on who your talking too.

i like filters. i'm willing to give a little for reliability.
