im no pro, but i understand all the bullshit like ohms and running subs in series and parallel, but what i DONT understand is this:

Why the fuq is it that my subs (alpine SW-1242d, 2 of them) sounded great run in parallel to both channels on my amp (power acoustik LT1440/4), but once i decide to run them in series bridged, they arent as loud? they are actually cleaner, but that ,ay be because they are loud.

anyways, i used the banana loop included with the subs to one channel, then ran both sets of wires to the bridged mono channel on the amp. why the hell isnt it right? i probably need to go to like my local audio shop (AVS) and talk to my boy zachy mayo, but he has been unavailable lately. let me know some ideas. im bout to pull em and make them parallel again.

draw a diagram of what you're talking about, i'm too tired to try and decode what you said.

this part here specifically.

I also have no idea what the "banana loop" did etc, but it sounds like you raised the ohm load.

If you went from parallel to series, you increased the impedance by a factor of 4, and cut power from the amp by about the same.

wire the voice coils (4 ohm) on the subs in series (2 ohm load) then the 2 subs in parrel - 4 ohm load mono to amp -

yup thats what i did. i bought a new amp anyways. the amp i have right now is underpowering the subs dearly.
