is this a serious question?

Am I missing something..?

Does a car with 1000 horsepower make more than a car with 200?

well some subs actually hit harder than less power subs. and think about sh!tty brands? like sony 1200w. those suck balls and 1200w is pretty good. and JL audio W3's and there not even 150w rms. but i hear they hit has hard as any other sub.

when properly paired with an amp to push it then yes a quality 1000w sub will be louder than a quality 200w sub.. now if your talking cheap flee market subs then a 1,000,000,000w one of those will probably not hit as hard as a quality 500w sub well maybe for one or two seconds then it will fail

If you put a 500wRMS subwoofer with a 250w amplifier, it will be louder than the SAME amp with a 1000wRMS subwoofer.

The goal is to match your equipment as closely as possible.

Power numbers dont make the brand any better. There is a lot more to a sub than just 1200w vs 150w. The sony is probably the peak power, while the jl is Rms power anyway.

of course.

You're the one asking the question man!

Obviously a car with a 1000HP engine in it will technically produce more power than other engines making 500 or 600, but if the car it's put into is a FWD tank or something, it won't produce much overall OUTPUT if it's matched up wrong.

Match up a nice 600 hp engine with a small and sturdy car that can output most of that engine's power down to the wheels, then you have a car that'll outperform the stronger motor.

But your question was extremely vague, if you want a real answer, ask a question that is really asking what you want to hear in return, when I read your first post I just gathered "does a 1000 watt subwoofer make more power than a 200 watt one..?" -- Duh?:P

There is a whole lot more to it than wattage ratings. The idea is to match your amplifiers with your subwoofers to get good quality sound then you also have to take into a number of other factors like the quality of the install ,the voltage/ amperage getting to your amplifier , the sensitivity of your subwoofers, the air space of your box matching up with airspace requirements of your subwoofers.

It also matters about how loud you want to be if you want to be street loud then it is a lot less complicated and costly than if you want to be competition loud.

Also brand name does not give you true value any more these days, there are literally over a thousand brands of car audio equipment on the market these days and a v ery large portion of those brands are good quality, just because it is not Kicker or JL does not mean anything but it may cost a little less.

Be smart when you buy and listen to the product, most descent shops will have there equipment installed in there vehicles.

For example if you came to my shop we have vehicles with our lesser expensive equipment installed in them so our customers can hear what were telling them about.
