I am looking to buy the front end suspension off a Formula Ford/Vee/Atlantic racer. I want to merge it into a High Efficiency Vehicle project I am doing and don’t want to reinvent the wheel (if you’ll pardon the pun…) I am specifically looking for something that will accommodate a foot box. Inboard, transverse mounted, push rod activated coil-shocks? I don’t know. You tell me. I’m basing my project on the photo I'm using for my Avatar.
Suggestions? I need ‘em all.
Thanks!

you could do that, then figure out the rocker arm ratios.
the inboard shocks can allow for a more linear progression for the spring, less unsprung weight, etc
just wait until Enigma97 posts, he actually designs our Formula SAE suspensions. we are going from push rod to pull rods this year though.
go ahead and pm him if he doesnt see this soon

Thanks for the tip and the introduction. I've also contacted some of the racing schools to see if I could buy a wreck. So far - no response. I'll keep an eye peeled for Enigma97.

Hey flyinlow,
If you're just looking for a front end off of a formula car, check on ApexSpeed.com. It's a Formula Car forum with a lot of people selling old formula cars. Might be a good source.
If you're thinking about designing and fabricating it yourself, send me a PM and we can chat about it.

Enigma97-
Thanks for the hot tip! I'll check them first so I don't waste your time. If I can't buy what I'm looking for, then I'll design and build. Right now I'm trying to chase down the right airframe. I can find aluminum, but I'm looking for fiberglass. Sailplane people are difficult to find...
I'll drop you a line when I know more. Thanks for the help!
