Alright here it is...the abs is gone...how would i fix that, if i can do it myself or mechanic, and how much would it cost to fix?? Thanks!! And i highly doubt its about bleeding the brakes or brake fluid

you are going to need a new abs pump...sensor...or something to that extent. my buddy who rebuilds wrecked cars just had to fix the same problem on an 05 auto wrx. He has an extra pump and sensor for sale if you need one. Let me know.

dumb question....have you checked your abs fuse?
its simple to check and if blown, a lot cheaper to replace ;)

Your car must have some serious issues if its only a year old and an abs pump had failed or something. Find someone that has a scanner that can read ABS codes and have them check it. Theres a lot of things on an ABS system that can go and toss a code, each wheel sensor etc....

thanks but like i said previously my 06 is perfectly fine it was the 04 wrx i was going to trade for that the abs didn't work and its located in illinois so i can't really check it out...thanks though! I just wanted to know what i would need or have to do as far as either replacing it or fixing it.

are you trading the car at a dealership or is it a private deal? I would assume this is a private deal because otherwise the dealership would just fix the car that they are going to trade to you.. If its a private deal, well i'd have it checked out more thoroughly if the abs is known to be bad, other things might be going bad as well.

the car was a salvaged car that got into an accident becuase the abs failed or something...also my fault it was a 04 sti...i've got the yes on the trade for several different cars...they are just asking for money and me driving to trade....but back to the point the car with the abs failure is an private sale...and it was reissued a clear title sooo....thats what confused me...but i guess he is now backing out since i told him i'll get back to him when i find out how i could fix the abs....(sacarstically speaking)thanks guys!!!! lol i'll just shoot for the blue 04 wrx

if its a matter of fixing the abs for the sti.... i'd take the sti, get the abs fixed, and be done with it... because you're going to spend money modding the wrx, and that money spent to mod the wrx could have been spent on the sti to fix the abs, and the sti will still be way faster and have the 6spd tranny to boot!

thanks never thought of it but come to reality...he backed out..thinking he could get enough money for his car that what my car is worth...stupid:D

Also I don't know if you would be interested, but the same friend of mine who has the abs pump also has an 05 black automatic wrx for sale with a rebuilt title and only 5000 miles. I think he is only asking 16 for it. Just a thought....but either way good luck finding a wrx.

Want to know how to save some headaches on fixing it? Don't buy a salvaged car.

I would have picked up one of Irish mike's old chassis' and the wrecked sti and had a fun cheap starting point :D
but then again that's for a race car...

but it also has a salvaged title.... along with a pretty serious crash under its belt... you have to draw a line between reliability and performance, do you really want to go fast bad enough that you'll trade a practically brand new car for a 4 year old rebuild STi that could've been wrapped around a tree at one point in its life? I used to work in a body shop so i know all about "rebuilt" cars.. you'd be amazed at what you can do with a little bucket-o-bondo.

but the STI has a turbo which makes up for it

because honestly how safe/reliable can you really be when you are going 70mph (in second gear... hehe) in your 700whp STI anyway...

TYJaMO

well with the way sti's are being sold for....110,000 miles still for 20grand+ or fully salvaged then fully rebuilt back to stock still for 20grand+....who knows i probably could of made a profit off of it

i assumed it was minor accident with engine problems that were addressed....

100k miles on an sti for 20 grand...show me the suckers buying those LOL

I bet he was exagerating a bit with the miles... but he is right that wrx/sti either hold their value very well and/or used ones are horribly over priced. When I bought my 07 WRX there was an 06 with 10k miles for only 1000 less.
