so now that i'm finally out of the hosipital, sunday night (here) i got "severly dehydrated" i was workin out on the flightline doin normal work, a job that was normally 5 mins to do, it ended up being 3 hours cause of some random crap that kept happening... alls i remember is coming back to the shop and i ended up in the hospital some how, they gave me an i.v. and they pumped me with 4 bags of fluid... it took them 5 times to get the damn i.v. in because my veins were so small do to the dehydration, my creatine levels were over 2000 when they are normally 300, they almost had to fly me out to a hospital outside of here, my blood work was all messed up, they took my blood pressure 3 times randomly withing 20 min period and it was consistantly 130-140 over 50-60, and my heart beat was over 95bpm each time so i was in some bad shape.. but i'm back to work now and doin fine, bein in the heat sucks big time here... you don't sweat really but yet you do it jsut evaporates so you don't know that ur dehydrated til its to late

Good gosh, glad to hear you're OK. Similar thing happened to me when I was in Riyadh, SA...
Working out in the sun then noticed I stopped sweating when I finally had a chance to take a break.

don't push yourself because they are telling you you will be fine. If you are having headaches or other symptoms you should be taking it very easy so you don't relapse or run yourself down. Also let me know if you would like any hydration, sports, or any kind of nutritional supplement cause I am a manager at Vitamin Shoppe and can help you out. Even in florida I stress to people the importance of hydration. Either way I'm glad to hear you survived and good luck with the rest of your endevour.

The Line can get hot as F! Alot of people don't realize that it is much hotter on the flightline, than just on the base. Being Aircraft Maintenance i was rarely able to go inside, that heat stress condition chart is meant for the AEF paper pusher types anyhow:lol:
I was just there in June at the D, and it was the dogs balls.
I had never gotten de-hydrated though. We where all told once to stop having water fights, once because some dumbass passed out when he dumped water, on himself:lol: That didn't last long though, wait until someone has a whole case of water and dumps it on you as you go up the hatch! Keep that water down chuck, i know how it is to be in the zone and forget to grab some water from the truck.

lol @ paper pushers... yea only thing they have to worry about it paper cuts and scuffin there boots on the desk...
i do agree the flightline is atleast 20+ degrees hotter then anywhere else on the base... hot concrete plus hot aircraft does not mix... theres some days i'll be workin out on the wing and have to go inside every couple minutes cause the heat comin off the wing is beyond boiling point it seems... someone started some stupid tradition in my shop that when u leave we dump ice cold water on you... and i mean ice cold... they zip tie ur hands and feet and put you outside then get the coolers filled with water and ice that have been stewing for 6+ hours inside so its nice and cold when you get it dumped on you

That could easily knock you out. I remeber working inside a jet in May of this year down there, replacing a relay inside the electronics cabinet and the paint that is on those cabinet covers was melting on my gloves! Thats when i knew it was alot hotter up there than i thought. "when you've sweat gallons over water all over yourself, your body cools itself down nicely. When you stop sweating, your F'ed.

<----- former USAF paper pusher, it's really nice in the A/C guys!
some of my squadron's flightline peeps fell out when we went to the desert also. Sucks cause you just can't go and drink the tap water, you got to find a bottle of sealed fresh water or you will get the runs for a week. :( (which makes you even more deydrated)

paperpusher.... I just hope my crosstraining to paralegal goes through:D Yeah I got the runs there too, about 35 people in our AMU did. And out off about 150 people we had to share 2 toliets, one broke and C.E never fixed it... It sucked:lol:

Yeah, I'am not to fond of them either, espically when they schedule trainer missions "5A's" on the weekend:mad: This might be the exact reason i might not make it on the 5th also:mad: But hey, your not one anymore, so your cool:D Your crew chief friend would love anything that's not crew chief or cop two of the worst jobs in the A.F, and you get no respect. I'am Avionics, but doesn't mean i might not come to work and be a crew chief for that day:roll: Yes CE is useless:lol:
