Hey, I hooked up my amp to my subs and I keep getting the red "PROTECT" light, no matter what I do. It's a DUAL 580W 2 channel amp (XIA-3145) and 2 DUAL 12" subs. Could it be that the fuse is too high a power rating and the amp is getting overpowered?
dude you said you know your car audio.
Your amp is just running at too low of an impedance.
Even if you think its fine, try something higher like 4ohms and see if that fixes it... after all, you're just testing things to make it work right?
Sounds like your impedance is too low.

Well, how can I fix this?

You need to wire the subs to a higher ohm load.....
We need to know how they are wired now in order to tell you how to wire them correctly.

Okay, the two subs have one connecter on the box, and ill assume it splits to each sub from there on the inside. From the box to the amp, it's 12ga monster cable straight to the left speaker out on the amp.

Does it say 2ohm or 4ohm on the connector at the box?
The subs are bridged together, probably at 2ohm load, coming out of the box. The amp must not be able to handle a 2ohm stereo load.
Did you purchase the subs and amp as a matched pair/package?

It says "4(Ohm) Nominal"
The subs and amp weren't sold as a matched pair.
It says "4(Ohm) Nominal"
Sub box or amp?
way worse if it's the amp...

If its 4ohm you should be fine any way you wire it to the amp.....
Do you have a DMM to check the ohms resistance at the connector?
I would guess that the amp is defective, take it back.

Just took out all the wires and reseated them and now it's working. A wire must've been frayed...
