Registrations are coming in quickly. thanks everyone who sent theirs in for those of you that did not remember you only have 10 more days to get them in before the price goes up another $10
NOW the good news:
Grassroots Motorsport Magazine Confirmed there intention to attend, I have sent them 2 complementaray entries for their teams to compete and report on the event. being this is a small event the chance of getting some coverage is pretty good.
if anyone is a photographer, drop me a line, I might want to get some pictures for post event write-up.

Im sorta lost here. you posted up you were looking for a photographer. I was volunteering my services. Even if you find someone else, id still like to come out and shoot this event. The starting place is acutally a few blocks from my shop off Wiscon in brooksville.

That would be great. If you want to take the Pre-event run with me that will give you a chance to scout out some areas if you want to photograph during the event. otherwise just some pictures to remember the event for the contestants. also if there is anything cool I can forward them to GRM.

How many spots are left? I just got a new car and I might be able to participate. Just want to see if I have a few days to do all the basic maintenance and check for hidden problems before I decide.

Are you going to need workers on this one, or do you have it covered?
I don't plan to drive, but I would not mind helping out.
I've never seen one of these before, but I assume you need things like manned check points.
treekiller
07-24-2007, 11:49 AM
oh yes! registration, checkpoints and Rally HQ workers are needed. workers get free food/beer (checkpoint workers need to wait till they are done) and man the offical cell phone. help people get to the finish if they get lost.
If you want to. put out an email there were a few people that wanted to drive looking for Navagators.

treekiller
07-24-2007, 05:46 PM
if you want I will be working 3 checkpoints myself, if you want to man the passanger seat in my car you can log the cars, just no vomiting when we run between checkpoints.

each checkpoint will require 2 people since you need to navagate to and from the checkpoint setup write times ect. if you have a friend we can get you trained quickly

Rumor has it that this event is run without helmets, is that true?
Did you ever answer the question whether there will be cars coming from the other direction on these stages?
I'm a novice, can I use a GPS?
As far as credentials, All we'll need is a drivers license?

1: This is a road rally, there is no special saftey equipment needed.
2: the roads are all open to public traffic, you may come across somone using the road but the roads used are rather remote. there is one section where the course backs over itself but it's on a paved road with plenty of space to get by each other.
3. you can, the novice class is indexed by equipment level so you will just be novice-equipped.
4. yes Drivers license and an insured car, and common sense, there is most likley not going to be a huge police presence although they will be informed we are running the rally, but not on which roads.

Something I can get from the internet possibly.

This is a TSD rally run on public roads at legal speeds in street legal vehicles... not sure why you'd need to haul a car out for it???

Yes they do, we have the whole parking lot and the front lawn is availble if it's not raining.
Loren: sometimes people bring their Pro-rally Cars to Brisk TSD's as "Shakedown" events. which if they are coming any distance driving a caged non-AC car might be a bit taxing.

A/C :haha:
and i'd bring a tow vehicle if i break down...which is always likely

My car is a bit far from Pro-Rally capable but it has no AC and race seats, etc, Very uncomfortable for the 6-8 hour round trip drive to and from the event. That doesn't include the hours we will be in it during the event.
Let's not talk about it breaking, it's bad juju.

Make sure you Bring a Cell phone, If you get hopelessly lost you can call in for help. we do not have Short wave radios at this event so if sweep misses you, you are on your own. with that being said, you are never more then a mile from civilization during this rally, although it may seem that way.

it's done, all the prep work and the route is finalized. Damn Hernando county decided to RE-grade my favorite road on the course so we lost about 6 miles of twisty turny dirt. (I'll use it next year) however there is still plenty to keep even the subaru's happy. 9 spots remain for walkup registration so if anyone was considering walking up get there early. the timing and positioning is based on a 40 car turnout. we can have less then 40 but no more. registration opens at 1:00 on the dot and closes at 2:30 no exceptions.

Jeff, can you reveal any sort of road type information? Like 50% gravel/dirt, etc? I'm trying to decide which tyres to run and I would prefer to not leave chance of getting stuck in some sand if at all possible.
treekiller
08-28-2007, 11:49 PM
I had to leave the soft sand out. although your rally tires will not be wasted, it's still ~45% unpaved.... and after awards I can take you back to the real roads and give you a little lesson in why rally experience is better then AWD. and school your arse with my FWD car on RE01R's

Thanks for the update. We're looking forward to it and hoping for good weather so that we don't get stuck. This is one event I don't think we're going to clean the car for.

should i be prepared to get stuck, you said you leave the soft sand out
i'm not worried about getting stuck, i just don't want to have to get out of
the car and dig my ass out :haha:
would smaller wheels and bigger tires help, i'm running on my ricer 17s with a 40 sidewall right now
treekiller
08-29-2007, 01:27 PM
There is nowhere you aree going to get stuck unless you drive off the road.

Bear in mind that the only times I really get to go shred some gravel is the 3 or 4 times a year I go to the NC mountains. :p Sometimes I think I live in the wrong part of the country.
That said, I am looking forward to this weekend.
Yes, I wasted post #1000 on that crap.
