View Full Version : F250 + Sand Bottom Creek = Stuck
Cecil

After spending a great day with the family and dogs in the creek I decided to drive through.
well.... that didn't work out so well.
It seems my 4 ton truck does NOT defy gravity and in fact sinks quite quickly in the sandy bottom of the creek bed.
These pics show it stuck.... which was not the problem.
The problems began when I was getting winched out and got pulled into a 6' deep hole.
The entire inside of the truck was flooded.... carpet ruined, amps fried and lots of compromised fluids.
here are a few pics.... enjoy. :nerd:

who got you out?
A flat bed tow truck with a big ole winch.
A storm rolled in moments after I got it stuck... torential downpour with lighting and thunder for hours.
If I would of had a camera man there would have been much better pics.
Once the recovery started, I basically put the camera down and focused on getting the truck out.
I would of loved to have pics of it going under water.... and the classic "water flowing out as I opened the door" pic would have been priceless.
Anyhow.... it just about back to normal (the carpet is still drying out).
Need to flush the rear end and transfer case one more time.... and wash it.
Got the stereo back on-line Friday.
Soon there will be a nice big Warn winch on the front... looking at a 16.5ti. :nerd:

rynoline the inside and put rubber mats down and mount the amps higher! lol
True Story..... been thinking the same.
I've already done the bed with "Line-X" and have been kicking around doing the inside as well.
I've already got really good form fitted mats.
As for the amps.... not sure where else I can put them that is any better.

My recommendation would be to get another truck or something to play in in, you already have a tow rig. ;) It's nice to be able to play and know that you just need to make it back to the trailer, not all the way home.

i called it a mall crawler when you first posted pics, so i'm glad you proved me wrong.. even if it did get stuck.

Yeah.... there's a tree perfectly positioned for recovery.... I fell short by not having the winch. Could of recovered myself and not had a ounce of water damage.

where is that at?
The property is in Southern Mississippi; I recently purchased the 44 acres you see us playing on.
It is surrounded hundreds more wooded acres. filled with lot's of creeks, streams and tons of wildlife.
I have family up that way that we visit a few times a year, figured buying a little piece of land made sense.
Ideally, I want to purchase the entire 200 acres in that particular area (bordered by a game preserve to the West, a paved road to the South, and Red Creek running from the North-West corner to the paved road on the South-East corner at approximately a 40 degree angle).
Here's a few pics of the property, we think it's beautiful: :)

Props on taking the biggun off road. Too many of those trucks never see anything but pavement. I can't imagine water rushing into it being that high. A lot of people exaggerate when they talk about deep holes. You found a real one. lol.
That property looks amazing. You're a hell of a dad to take the kids out. All too often these days parents just park their kids in front of the TV. My nephew is one of em. Take em out and get em muddy! lol
Oh and the Polaris probably wasn't stuck. It probably broke;)
Now this is a stuck ATV:

took the buggy in the background SNATCHING to pull me out. lol

Yeah.... the Polaris' do tend to break more than the others.
And that big ole truck has seen it's share of mud & water.... ran over a few trees along the way too. ;-)
Your bike is stuck in some nasty stuff there!! :-o
The kids love it.
We have been riding dirt bikes & 4-wheelers up there for the past 4 years.
Lot's of good memories forged in the woods and mud.
We plan on continuing to get out as a family and break stuff. ;)
That's another area we focus on, the maintenance of the toys.
Keeping them well maintained, cleaned and taken care of.
You can beat on them all day, but your also gonna be out there with me doing the maintenance. :D
