boost question

i just got my car together and got it running and hooked up my boost gauge and its showing vac pressure but when i rev it, it wont go into boost..im reving to 5000..whats goin on?...lmk..thanks

Well I do believe you need a load on the motor..thus having the car in gear and going done the road. just sitting there revving it up doesnt really do much. thats why you cant set a boost controller just revving up the motor..it just doesnt work that way.. at least it doesnt for me..lol...

thats ok .. Ive seen "techs" try to set the boost controller just sitting there revving up the motor. and they say.."why isnt there any boost???" now thats funny...

hahahahaah not anymore!!! I was there when that happened :lol: :lol: :lol:

But yea Chris is 100% right, you sometimes need a load on the engine in order to create positive manifold pressure depending on your setup.

My T88 on the FD made boost standing still... You just had to rev to 8k almost to do it. (Haltech rev limit was set at 10k)

Some setups will make boost in neutral without a 2 step, but just because it doesn't is not a proper way to determine that you have a problem. I know you know this, but I am just posting this for the thread starter.
