Your camera might have a drinking problem.

ok how much would a box like this cost at a normal stereo shop?

integralsgreen
06-28-2007, 12:08 PM
well i have about 8 hours in it rite now. ill have about 12 hours in it after it all insatlled and the trim panels are made. figure about 40 bucks an hour labor plus materials. i dont know what normal sterio shops labor rate is for custom work. it differs depending where you live

id do it for $300 :) lol. nice ass box man, so when you are hiring this assistant let me know. If your serious I'll take some pics of the systems I'm in the process of building now.

also I work in the fiberglass industry now, so i have plenty of hookups for nice materials. I can also make and repair molds. :nerd:

currently building a fiberglass box in the back of 01 trans am, will try to get pics (not sure when i get to work on it next). I really don't like the design but the customer wants what he wants (we work together). It's 2 12" audiopipes and a 2000watt konika (no idea...) amp. I can't wait to put the DMM on the amp to see what it REALLY pushes.

Next system after that is a 07 tundra with a fiberglass box and amp rack behind the rear seats composed of 1 10" fi Q sub pushed by a hifonics brutus 1600watt amp ( alittle under power but its his money and his budget) No dash kit out yet for the tundra (AI is getting closer) so probably custom fit the radio in the dash as well.

and lastly (so far scheduled) is an 01 civic with a 15" fi SSD pushed by (probably) a hifonics zeus.

The civic is getting interior work done to it (eventually) including custom door pods, custom seat wraps, and possibly a custom radio bezel (putting an eclipse in dash non flip out tv and making it look stock).

I would love to get back into doing car audio everyday.

As for relocation, I wouldn't really mind at all as long as I could get paid more than I do here.

well i dont do audio everyday. this is a toyota accessorie shop. i install all the dealiership options. spoilers, running boards, dvd, navigation, cruise controll, keyless entry, ect. mort of my business is leather upgrades. we do do custom work like you see here but its far and few between. i do more custom work on the side than at work. like a couple months i completely restored a 79 corvette and pretty soon ill be fabricating a interior for a 67 mustang

Props for the nice fiberglass work. We have found that people just aren't willing to pay for that kind of work anymore. We don't even bother. I wish it weren't that way but it is. People are so used to $50 prefabbed boxes with a plexi window and a neon light that they don't appreciate the fiberglass craftsmenship. If you like doing this stuff on the side, PM me and I'll refer the few serious ones we get your way...

i apriciate that but im in tallahassee. i started out at toyota as a bodyman in the collision center, then when they opened the acessorie dept i stepped up to run it. as soon as my fiancee graduates from fsu i wanna move back down south and open a shop, but im still young yet(just turned 20) so theres alot i still needa learn. at least im geting good expirence running a shop tho. but yea i love fabricating and doing extreme coustom work but like you said not many people have the mony to do that kinda stuff. i jump at any opertunity i can do do stuff like this
