not sure exactly what is on there, but if it is like a tar or asphalt tar you can use a little PB Blaster and it will loosen it up an it will wipe off. I have used it on an entire car that we got roof tar on from during the Hurricanes and it didn't effect the paint at all. Not sure if that helps but worth a shot. PB blaster is like WD40 in case you haven't heard of it.

go to local store and buy some wheel cleaner make shure the rims are cool not hott... dont drive for a lil so that they are cool to the touch sense u live in n.j. get a bucket of water and a terry cloth towel or somthing that is abrahsive but not like sand paper wet them a lil bit then let the wheel cleanner soak on there for about 2 min dont let it dry .........then give a lil elbow grease and rinse off repeat if needed dont by any means use acid........
only ppl that have used acid before should use it ...
acid will def.. destroy ur rims if ya dont know what ur doing ....

any more??? pm me

I was referring to cleaning the wheels with acid.As long as they are chrome and not hot acid will not hurt them and will clean them better then anything out there. But if you got it done by other means, good for you.I've acided out polished aluminum too,and after there polished back out, they look like chrome.
