Default fuse :: maxi vs agu vs anl vs other

I've been reading up on fuse types or at least trying to and well I'm coming up with no conclusions. I've always used agu style fuses and blocks for my power on my cars because thats what i was easily available, but I'm wiring up a buddies and he has the choice of the three and i can't really find any pros or cons to any of them. to me they each do the same and there seems to not be much of a difference other than 'style'. what are yalls choices and any pros cons or links with more info etc... so i can help him make a choice.

just a quick run of which fuse is which:

ANL

MAXI (the big one in the picture)

AGU

thanks guys any help will be appreciated

AGU is by far the worst, stick with the maxis or blades and the anl's.

they are much cheaper and are capable of more throughput for bigger installs.

i've just always had a hard time finding larger sized AGU fuses... meanwhile i can find any of the other two anywhere.

just my opinion though.

LOGIC? You seriously want to invoke logic in a conversation about fake hijackings, missiles hitting the pentagon, and bombs planted throughout the world trade center? I thought it was a given that logic was checked at the door when entering one of these threads.

Generally, Maxi=low power, AGU=medium power, ANL=high power.

I know the smaller maxi's are for low power but i just consider it more like this

maxi= low and high power (smaller vs big one)
AGU= low to medium
ANL=high

I think the maxi's and ANLs are just best choices because they're everywhere and really easy to install and remove.

AGU's are a pain in the ass and they're limited.

I like Maxi's and the new Midi's, especially for anything over about 60 amps. I've had problems with AGU's where the fuse element isn't soldered or welded to the endcap well. I've also seen AGU holders (mainly the inline ones) melt because the connection to the fuse is loose.

ANL - most reliable connection.

I say MAXI for lower power because the majority that I've seen have always been severely distorted from being melted into their holder. I wouldn't ever trust one of those in a vehicle of my own. Coming in second in the melted category would be the AGU's (like Toby said, usually when the holder isn't secured properly...or it's rigged), and I don't think I've ever seen a melted ANL.
