I am noticing that the engine on my 06 Mustang GT is getting grimy with pollen and dirt. What should I use to wipe it down or clean it with without messing anything up?

Spray some scrubbing bubbles on the dirty parts then spray it off with the hose. Try your best to keep the battery distributer and alternator dry. Then start the car as soon as you are done cleaning and let it run for a little.

Black magic makes somethign espically for this, works wonders, not sure of the name, i jsut wash it with soap/water keeping the elextrical areas as dry as possilbe, and spray tire wet under there, but since i have a cowl hood it sucks dirt in and it jsut sticks to the tire wet after a few days, armor all also works.

Yo Buddy I Do This For A Living What You Need To Do Is Go To Discount Auto Parts Buy Some All Purpose Cleaner Or Maybe Its Called Purple Stuff There Spray It On The Engine Make Sure The Car Is Running And Use A Pressure Washer And Rinse It Off It Doesnt Take Much Then Spray Armor All All The Motor I Only Recommend You Clean It Like Once Evry 4 Months Though

Big rep for you... Just used a bottle of the scrubby bubbles on the bay of my 240. Wish I had taken before and after pics. Difference was night and day.

Plus my whole bay smells of flowers and sunshine :D

Here's what I do -

Use a form of degreaser, Simple Green, Grease Lighting, etc. Soak the engine bay down, leave it for a few minutes, then scrub the heavily soiled sections down. Once you get done with that, wash off with water. I normally do this with the engine running to let it heat up. After the engine gets up to operating temperature, spray a form of dressing, especially on the rubber and plastic parts, 2001, Armarol (SP), etc. Close the hood, let it cook, open it in like 10~20 minutes, and you will see an amazing difference.

depending on how bad it is you can also get break cleaner and use it just make sure to hose it down after real well and avoid electrical components
