Grand Cherokee Reverse problem

Anyone happen to know why the reverse would go out on a 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It works sometimes but most the time not. What's causing it and what does it take to fix it?

try adjusting the shift cable first or little things easly done
do not attempt to do major work on the guts yourself trust me
