So, i was kinda thinking about ways to give me some more SPL. I thought about maybe buidling a kind of "Test box" and line the inside with dynamat. I think it could work a little and it would deff seal the box. im wondering if it would push all the air out the port better at all?? i dont know. im kind of thinking about building a new box for 12s and im trying to find somthing new.
imput please
thx,
rob

i know it works good as an insulation and sound dampener but i dont know if will help out alot which kind of dynamat are you using. Interested to find out.

Im think it might stop the vibration from the sub you want from bouncing off the back of the box though which in that case it wont hit as hard as a box with out it

all reg or extreme dynamat does is sound dampin
hoodliner sucks up the heat and keeps hood cool
dynaliner is used as a sound dampner/insulation ;takes place of that stock gray stuff under the carpet keeps car realy cool/sound dampins better then stock [ i love this stuff ]
dynamat works wonders i have a 240sx and they were marked down for ALOTA road noise due to the hatch .now i cant barely here it and i have a "coffie can exhaust"
tho it would seel the box and i might help a lil bit but u wouldent notice
good luck i would love to see ur box when done! :]
dynamat and all that shit just works by adding weight and rigidity to whatever you stick it onto to reduce vibrations. Lining it inside a box won't do anything to it but just make the box more expensive and if built poorly -- less prone to vibrating itself badly..
The reason why you resin the inside of a box is to just make the thing more solid (to keep from falling apart) and [attempt] to eliminate any air from escaping through cracks and the fact that wood is porous.
I'm assuming you figured 'fiberglassing works, why not dynamat?'

i would just coat the inside of the box in resin

Dynamic Control (makers of dynamat) used to sell a product called 'dynaply' or something like that. Basically, it was wood with dynamat in the middle. I would think that two sheets of 1/2" mdf with a layer of dampner in the middle would be a pretty good foundation for a box. Probably overkill, but good nonetheless...

i remeber that stuff - very expensive - and i think it came in 2 x 4 sheets because of shipping size- not cheap to ship either, i still would use 3/4 mdf and coat with resin
