Well I just replaced my old L7's with the new model L7's and upgraded to 8 gauge speaker wire, and wired it for parrallel usage. I can notice a serious difference in the quality and no more only picking up 30hz or lower when turned up really loud. What you guy's opinion's on the wire and hook up choices?

we you should only hear or feal down to about 25 hz, not much music down there, using 8 guage wire for speaker wire is a little over kill but if you a run alot of power it can not hurt, i think the biggest differece is you wired it different giving the amp a different load and it probably likes it!

Ya I run the Kicker ZX 2500.1 so power is definintley not a problem. Does Toby still put on the meets once a month. I'd like to see what I'm puttin down now, the best I ever got with the last set up was 147, I wonder if I could come closer to reaching that 150 mark?

i dought it ! to gain 3 db you must do one of 2 things
double your power or double your speaker surface area!

rewiring your amp for more output and the newer specs of the speakers might gain you 1 db

i hate to beat a dead horse but the difference you might hear is your old kickers were worn out, they only sound good for a about 6 months then their spiders and surrounds get sloppy

You weren't hitting 147 to begin with...my friend has a Dodge Dakota X-cab with 2 L7's and that same 2500w amp...hits about 131 dB...I have a Chevrolet Suburban with 4 Diesiel Audios...2 MTX 1000w monoblocks, 3 car battereies, stinger alternator, custom tuned box, 0 gauge wire everywhere...I hit 149 dB and take home 1st place in every comp. i enter...so either you're lieing, or you need to enter more comps.

dude I hit 134.8 on termlab with ONE 12 in a tiny box. 131 is weak as hell for two L7s and 4 subs @ 149 isnt much better. So either you are talking out of your ass or, well , yes you must be...

A single L7 should lay down 140db without much trouble. If you're only hitting 131 with 2 and 2500w, something is seriously wrong.

Ok number 1 I did hit 147 as you can tell from the posts made by the other people on here who saw my car do so (thank you everyone). #2 If your "boy" is only hittin 131 check your shit. #3 My regular cab ram truck with 2 L7 10's and an MTX 1501D hit 129, so again check your shit. #4 I would hope to God with the amount of stuff you just mentioned your hitting well close to 150 or higher, if you're not then again check your shit. #5 your an idiot and thanks for playin.

I can see a 149 placing in most local comps. Depends on the classes as well, but even still, a 149 is a very respectable number.

My bad bro's...my boy said that the dB reader we been using is wacked out...still just can't believe L7's will hit 147 dB...paying $80 tomorrow to have it read by the termlab decibel reader...and for all you NOBODYS up top...the Dakota ain't wired wrong...it was done at a custom auto shop and is wired perfectly fine...and for the record...8 gauge ran as speaker wire is perfect for the L7's from the 2500w amp...same thing my boys got...but with a ear guess (I work at a custom audio place in Cape Coral, FL)...but with an ear guess...I'd rate L7's at 143....144 TOPS! LOL - i can beleive this thread is still alive - and seadoodoo - you work at a shop and you have to pay $80 to have you system metered? am i missing something? any shop that builds decent systems will have there own meter and to charge the employees to use it means A. you dont work there B. the shop is a getto shop and dont have one C. you dont know what you are talking about. what is a ear guess? the ability to "guess" a db is almost impossible, because every car is different, box tuning is different, if you use the old rules that for every 3 db the system sound 2x louder, and to get the 3db you have to either double your power or double your speaker surface area - think before you spill crap from your brain into a thread!
