Ok my alarm has been acting up. It will unlock and lock but the remote start won't work, nor will it show that the car is locked on my remote, even when it is. Also everytime I hit a button it beeps like its out of range. Any ideas? Don't really feel like taking to the shop.

I'm selling my current alarm. 120 bucks for the unit and dalton "professionally installing it" is the total price.

... didn't you install this alarm yourself?
First thing I would check is the antenna and the antenna cable. It only takes a small knick to hit ground on that cable.
Also check the:
- Neutral safety is grounded and set to negative
- The hood pin is not grounded
- The antenna isnt behind metalized tint
- All three of the fuses are good.
- The brake lead is showing ground at rest

No I didn't install it.
It happened on my way to Dayton last month, I believe the bass rattled something loose. I pulled it all out to look and didn't see anything loose. It worked perfectly fine before. Any one thing that could lead to those symptoms? The alarm still beeps when I arm and the light flashes but just doesn't show lock and beeps three times.

if its not showing lock, then its not armed or the remote isnt communicating both ways with the alarm. check the antenna.

Well it is armed, the doors lock and the blue light begans to flash. I looked at the antenna earlier everything seemed fine with it. And the wires going to from it to the brain.

its a 2way paging Compustar alarm I installed it and would be uninstalling it.
its got excellent range and the only reason he is upgrading is because envy is driving him to get the remote start model I have in my car.
I believe it has
5 auxiliary outputs
external 2 step shock sensor
5 zone trigger

take the battery out of the remote, cut all power to the car, put your key in and turn to ON, put the power back to the car, hold in the valet button till it resets, put the battery back in the remote.
You MIGHT have to reprogram the remote. See if that works...

Connect the power when the ignition is in ON? That doesn't sound too safe.

the alarm senses the ignition wires when it gets power. if you don't put the key to ON when you connect the battery it assumes its been stolen.
Theres nothing unsafe about turning the key to on with the power off.

well if the doors lock but the remote doesnt say it then I would start checking the sensors - make sure they all set hte alarm off.
if they do then get a new brain.
