Depends on the car if there's an existing hole there already or not. Look for an existing rubber gasket or plug you may be able squeeze through on either the driver or passenger side....take a look from both the inside of the car (get a flashlight up in there and look to see where the factory wires are going through) and from the engine bay side. Finding an existing hole would be the most ideal option. If there's nothing, then you'll have to ofcourse drill a hole, but be very careful that you know exactly what is on the other side....start with a small bit first.

Didnt I drill a hole when I installed your remote start? Your car looks familiar...
One thing i did with my car the first time i ran power (since i didnt have a drill) i found a port on the side of the engine bay, not the firewall. I believe that the airbag cables are usually ran through there, you should be able to find it pretty easily, most of the time they're yellow. Anyways, run it throuh the fender/quarter panel/whatever the hell its called, and then you might have to take it off and route it down through a rubber gasket right before it gets to the door. this should just route straight down and into the passenger's footwell.
Thats just an alternative to drilling a hole... its definitely a bit more work, but if my dumb ass can do it, you can probably do it too.
just drill a hole.. lol

i ran a power wire under the car and a power wire in the car it was easy to run under the car (the one ran thought the car went to the back battery) in my truck i ran it though the fender and the firewall there was a gap big enough to fit 4 gauge

The problem with running wires under the car is that then they're exposed to the elements. Road debris, rocks, mud, rain, salt (northern states) can all contribute to a break down of the wires insulating jacket. Though you could also loom the wire, it's still much safer to simply keep as much inside the car as possible.

Yeah, some cars have factory wiring in those hollow firewalls as well. Such as porsches. Witnessed an installer catch one on fire once, that was pretty cool. So was all the white foam covering the interior from the fire extinguisher afterwards.
