Who is running Lakeland now? Things went very slow out there Thursday. Whats up with this?

a10secstreetcar
04-20-2007, 11:12 AM
Lakeland is GAY! Track sucks and the lights work every blue moon, and rotary's always and Im mean always making us wait up to 1 hour because of oil spills. They dont have the right crew to clean up track or keep it up. Last time I was there like (everytime) a rotary broke and oil was every were. They ask people from the stand to come down and help clean up the track?what type of BS is that?

Well things did go slow last night but it was the domestic cars that made things slow last night. Can't put the blame on the rotary cars this time.

sakurafms1
04-20-2007, 04:19 PM
LAst night there where about 4 domestics that broke. The Dale Jr paint scheme Monte carlo spilled oil all over the left lane from half track all the way till the shut off lane. So keep the rotarys out of this one. Also the guy who fell of his bike is doing fine.10secstreetcar have you been to lakeland in the past few weeks? Why do the track crew keeps getting ppl coming up to them and congratulating them on such great track prep and happy ass hell because guys keep getting personal best 60ft's? hmm tell me why is that happening. You never see that happening in slumshine do ya? Guess lakeland has a sucky crew huh

That didn't happen this past thurdsay but several weeks ago when that corvette oiled down the 1/8 mile they did ask for people to help with the clean up. I heard that with my own ears man.

sakurafms1
04-20-2007, 05:06 PM
He made it seem like it was the rotarys fault they asked ppl to help when it was that POS corvettes fault. Why is it everyone complains about every single track in FL? If they are not complaining about lakeland they are complaining about Bithlo, if they are not complaining about Bithlo they are complaining about bradenton, so on and on and on.Since when has florida became the state of the cry baby racers ?stop complaining and start appriciating the fact that you guys have so many tracks to choose from close to you ,not like other states that don't have any track peroid.

I went tonight, got there at 6pm, waited until about 8:20 to run. They had some light issues on the starting line. I pulled up to the line (very first pair of cars), revved to 4 grand, dropped the clutch, broke my shit for the second time in 2 weeks. The track was definately sticky, too sticky for something in my drivetrain...again. Just my luck, time to change the sig.

the track was really really sticky 2day.Congrats to the guy with the orange Firebird for running a 5.93 and lifting the front wheels up about 4 feet off the ground. really like that car. Also thanks to the diesel pick that spilled antifreeze from the 60ft all the way down to the return road.

I love That they allow Those Big truck on the track in the first place. They always put a crap load of dirt on the track.. I guess this time it was antifreeze. Wish I could of seen that happen.

what were you running for tires?
i wasnt there, but i had friends there that know about track prep, and they said it was preped great! ;) also, every time that i've been there since this new guy has been leasing it from roy, i've walked the track, and it's been preped really good every time.

if you dont have slicks or the right compound drag radials, you'll spin worse than on the street, but if you have the right meat, you're gonna hook like hell! :D i bet if you run some slicks, you can launch of the rev limiter and you'll dead hook every time! ;)

Sorry to hear that you broke you car again. Hope you get that thing fixed soon.

I lucked out, it was the driver's side axle that busted up inside the boot area near where it goes into the trans. I had one spare axle in the garage, and it happened to be for that side. I just spent a while changing it out, so all in all, that wasn't a bad thing to bust. Time to find some more spares I guess.

I came to race, not watch to fags hit each other with pillows on there hands ( try watching the UFC, then watching boxing, takes about 30seconds watching boxing to put you to sleep ).

I'm done at Lakeland. I've tried to be understanding. I've tried different nights. It just stupid.

$45 to race and get my wife in, is just insane ( but what are you gonna do after you've spent your whole day off getting the car ready, finding baby sitters, and planing to be at the track that night ).

Everytime I get in the slick tire lane, I get bitched at about something. Everyone there totally ignores the lane maniger and just pushes there cars into the fucking staging lanes while he's yelling and waving " stop stop stop ". Alum. bathtubs with weedeater motors every where ( yea, some are quick in the 1/8th mile ). Can't hear myself think b/c people think its cool to be louder than the space shuttle and slower than a tricycle. Can't get race gas unless yoy speak spanglish. The left side of the track rolls you out of the double stage consistantly ( guess its not an issue if you have an alumunum bathtub with a trans-brake ).

$45 thing was just too much, it was the finally straw. The track is hit and miss with traction, the people favor the lame as race cars over street cars that paid the same amount to get in, and the track mysteryly shuts down for no reason. "racing starts at xx:xx o-clock", and I get there at that time and have to wait 2 hours to run.

The list goes on. I hope it gets mowed over, street racing gets out of control, and someone builds a REAL 1/4 mile track in Polk. Until then... I'll be at the track on Thursdays, but not Lakeland.

Are you the guy with the red Srt-4 with slicks on the front?

That would be me. I try to be nice. I try to be polite to everyone there, and I've just kind of grow tired of it.

Not saying I'm in the super faster area ( 7.5@96mph ), but I get treated like I'm in my mom's stock automatic 92' accord, when I'm really there trying to put down some consistant times for test purposes, and to tune the car. I put a lot into going to the track ( NOT like driving there and lowering my tire presure then running ). So when I spend a lot of time and effort, only to get black balled b/c it seems to be "all about the race cars " at Lakeland, and I'm in a FWD car.

I was told one time to run with the street cars b/c I "don't have a delay box".
I've been told not to drive though the water box to do a burnout, with slicks on my car ( and one of the racers bitching about it drives a rotary that just dragged oil down the entire right lane ).

I mean, the staging lane guy is YELLING " STOP STOP STOP " while waving his hands, and the racer/crew is looking DEAD AT HIM, and they just keep pushing the car b/c they don't feel like waiting for the street cars to run or something. Looks like the lane guy is about to get in a fight with these cats, over them being tards. Its a f-reaking zoo. Wish the lane guy would have put some ass whipping on those dudes.

The $45 thing Saturday just really put me over the top.... I could see if I was going to a boxing convention, but I didn't come to the drag strip to watch a boxing match, and even more so to PAY for a boxing match.

If I had your moms regular ole RWD Drag radial street car that runs 8.0's , and just basiclly needs a tire presure adjustment to run, I would have turned around at the gate, but when you put your Saturday morning into getting everything ready for racing, its not as simple as saying, " ahhh lets just turn around ".

I reallize you can't make everyone happy, but I'm out. Good luck with the weedeater races ( and the 3 fast rotarys ).

Wonder how many people came through the gates in the race trailer when they found out the gate price was $20 a person !! That's more than stuntwars !!! It was a mistake, and I won't risk my prep time into driving that way, I'll be heading South....

WHy the hell are you complaining and whinning like a little ass kid if everytime you go there you get about 10runs in? Just like sat night i seen you do alot of runs. IF you only go there just for the TnT why the hell would you care in wich lane you are put in? If you think is bad in lakeland go to Bithlo and tell me if you would be able to get 2 runs in one night? I see the same respect given to both street and race cars on any night. If the "Weedeaters" Are so slow tell me why all the cars in the quik16 where rotaries running mid 5's to mid 6's and your ass was getting handed to you by some of those rotaries when you went up against some.Stop your bitching and complaining in a forum and take it to the the track manager. Yea, so fast  1/8th mile only, alum. bathtub all out pure race cars that weight 1200LBS. and run mids 5s  My friend's street car runs 5.0@158mph, so at Lakeland, that would be 5.1@165mph  Lets not make this a discussion about superchargers vs Turbos, or pistons vs rotarys ( both arguments compare about the same, its not even an argument anymore ).

Think I care about getting beat by a 200% trailered, teamed built, sponsered FULL DRAG rotary ? Why would I give a shit ? There funny thing is, that I have and did beat some of the "race cars" in my wife's daily driver with FWD, air conditioned, and 100% street legal other than the tires DODGE NEON.

But.. The cars that are seemingly loud just for the fact to annoy are only 15% of the reason I wouldn't be there anymore ( ok, maybe 20%, its just so god damn stupid ).

Bithlo ? WTF ? I give a shit about some other 1/8th mile ? Only reason PEROID I ever went to Lakeland was b/c its close to home rather than drive 80miles to BMP.

I got 8 runs in Saturday for $45. $5.50 per run ? No thanx.

I was giving my complants. You can show them you who ever, fix them or not fix them, I don't care anymore, its not my issue anymore. If you wanna keep pissing the regulars off, and end up with no one, but 16 aluma tubs racing, paying to race, then so be it. Not my issue. I was just letting you know. Notice how many "bad ass" street cars have been there lately ? Yea... None. Other than ls-1queen, and maybe 2 other V8 cars, I'm the fastest fucking street car there ( which isn't saying a whole lot ).

Fair treatment to the street cars ? Your outta your mind !!! A few weeks ago when that bike went down the other went like this.

Race cars
Motorcylces, one of the last bikes to run wrecked and there was a big delay.
ALL the motorcylces again
Race cars
Race cars again
Motorcylces
Street cars
Race cars- end session.

I sat for 2.5 hours without a run. While in the mean time, I watched this primered, pacer looking peice with a carbed V8 and slicks run 4 times !!!

Everytime I get to the track, at starting time I wait 2 hours to run !!

Like I said, do what you want with the issues I've brought up. Ignore them. Pitch insults or whatever toward me or my car. I've told you about issues, fix them or don't. Lakelands fate is pretty much all but sealed anyway....

Brian's right, I've been out on Thursday's and it hasn't been to bad, the track condition itself sucks. Before that though all the rotary drivers would weasel their way to the front and pretty much do what ever the hell they wanted to. $45 is way to high to run at Lakeland, hell you can wait every couple of months and this site will sponsor a race night and you can buy a spot for that and get a shit load more runs in, at a better track, and for right at or less money. What's gettin sad is when my car is consider one of the more faster street cars when I show up on thursday, all the really fast street cars tht used to come out on a regular basis don't anymore.
