Butt dyno's! Scientific or ...
Well... I recently got another Z to replace the one I wrecked at the track. I am obsessed with the Z. It's just too much damn nakedness fun for $4500 & I can't pass up cheap fun to ride the piss out of them.
So I make a few phone calls, and I make an appointment to have both my bikes do some dyno pulls on a local Br@d!n60 Butt Dyno.
So 1st is the new Z with the 4,2,1 exh & PCIII. 1st gear was pretty much lame till 4k. Then the gates of hell opened (aka front end lifts) and the demons are released. With the sphincter intervening with the throttle hand action the gates are closed & shifted into 2nd. In second he rpm were allowed to drop to check for pull, but once on the gas again the gates of hell began to open again (that is the front end lifts) and that was that... tha bitch was parked & all it kept saying was WTF is that gay silver 636 picking on my brotha...
2nd the wrecked Z is taken to its test... open header makes it sound like we stuffed a vtwin in it. Loud & Nasty... Unfortunately the old Z is a much more well mannered beast. The front would get light but it applied power much more linear. Pretty much boring... except for the sound of the Open Headers... it just plain makes you scream VEE-EIGHT!
That was fun... I only wish I could have done the pulls myself. Or that the Dyno operator would have shaven his thighs!

I have some radical changes in mind for the wrecked bike, if it comes out ok I may do it to the street bike.

Yeah, they are that cheap. The reason is that there is no real market for sport naked bikes in the US. Everyone wants the race bike look. So the Z's sales sucked in the US despite it being among the top selling bikes in Europe.

Once I can do some more physical work, I am going to shorten the tail section of the track Z... it'll require some glassin work, but I think I can pull it off since I have some glass exp from speaker enclosures & other car home\audio projects.
If it turns out ok, I may do it to the street bike too...
