Hello Everyone! Let me introduce myself, If I may. My name is Tim and I'm from Michigan, although I spend a lot of time in Florida.. I've been Drag Racing since 1973, but my racing is a little different from most. You see, I drag race Snowmobiles! We race on Asphalt, 1/8th and 1/4 mile, as well as Ice, snow and Grass!
I build custom Drag Sleds, ranging from Stock (for Bracket racing) , to Pro-Stock, (for some serious heads up competition) Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, we can achieve!
We have one of our Sled-Hedz.Com Asphalt Ski-Doo's running at Sunshine Speedway! This sled is a stock, bracket class snowmobile, although we have a Pro-Stock sled in the works, that will be coming to Sunshine Speedway in the very near future, as well.
The first question I usually get is, how fast are snowmobiles on Asphalt?
A Pro-Stock 1000cc sled with around 270 HP will turn the 1/4 mile in the mid 8's, with a MPH of 150 + !
Snowmobile Asphalt racing is growing very rapidly and we would invite anyone who would like more information on Snowmobile Asphalt racing to E-Mail us at:

Sweet!
I am originally from Chicago and my dad always had snowmobiles. They are such a blast. We would go around the field in the back of our house and bring them up to our campgorund where we could go everywhere on them.
When I was 17 he bought a race sled. It was a lightweight body with a Jaguar engine. That was a hard machine to drive because it could get away from you so easy but OMG was it fun.
We mostly owned Ski-doo's.
One time I got out there and a nice little jump (hill) had formed and I just had to. So I jumped it at about 30mph, caught the balance of the sled and landed. The second time I jumped it at 35mph but I couldn't counter the weight and off I went onto the icey snow and you being from MI should know that doesn't feel good at all. Thankfully I had the kill switch hooked up to my gloves. So the third jump I went to about 33 and survived.
My mom and dad were watching me limp (big bruise on my hip :) ) around the house and were like what did you do? I was like, oh nothing major. :evil2:
Enjoy TR. I hope to take a look at the links you provided tonight and share them with my dad.
He raced across a frozen lake years ago with my mom on it and didn't tell her, really freaked my mom out when she told him.

Chi Town,
Sounds like you know what I am talking about! The Drag Snowmobile I just built has 269.9 Hp and the sled weighs 394 lbs. Snowmobile Asphalt Sleds we have built of this nature are running the 1/4 mile in the low to mid 8's, with speeds of over 150 MPH.
We have a stock sled running at Sunshine Speedway in Clearwater, FL that is running the low 10's with speeds of 110 + !
Where are you located now?

I'm located in Tampa weekdays and Melbourne on the weekends. So I go to both Bradenton and Bithlo/Moroso when the races come or for test and tune nights.
That would be crazy to watch them run on asphalt. I would think though that the snow would be much more fun cause it slides so much easier.

If you ever see a Snowmobile running against the Bikes at Sunshine Speedway, It's probably my buddy Dave. Dave also races in Bradenton and Lakeland with his snowmobile. If you see him, stop in a say hello.
I am starting a new Organization for snowmobiles in Florida. It's called FASDRA. FASDRA stands for "Florida Asphalt Snowmobile Drag Racing Association. We just started on a website. The address is www.fasdra.com Florida's Original Asphalt Snowmobile Drag Racing Website (http://www.fasdra.com) It's running on the Sled-Hedz site until we get it up and running on it's own site.
If you ever want to get on a sled in the snow again, just let me know! My wife and I have 15 sleds! :)
