lets bring some life back in here!
post you idea of the ideal system for your car and why (be real as if you really would build it for your daily driver - money no object though)
Reason why everyone is gone is because there are too few people who are willing to talk about good system setups.
Anyways... yeah if money was no object i'd get a better car first off(larger car), that would eliminate 99% of rattles since everything is still rather tight and well placed. I would go with something delicate and somewhat simple, just focus on the least amount of fluff while maintaining some beefiness. For example I'd probably get these components.
Create a nice, very compact in car PC, with touchscreen. Spend a great deal on either getting a sound board (soundcard) with RCA outputs or very high quality stereo to rca jacks. a nice 7 or 8" touchpanel, probably just a simple lilliput, integrate into dash. The PC would probably be stowed away in a safe place away from all the magnetic crap the subwoofers would be emitting.
Speakers would probably be top end rainbows/focals/or i'd probably try those 750 dollar polk components, all the way around, maybe 8 total, two in the front, two front door panels, two rear door panels, two rear deck.
Shit i'd probably buy them all just to see which are better, might even just get Diamond D6 components, just try all their qualities out.... Kinda hard to tell...
As far as subwoofers, I'd get a JL W7 for my deep deep lows and frequencies from 20hz to 80hz, then from 85 to 120 I'll put 6W0's under the foot wells (i'd have to find some way to stuff them in there... and put them under my rear seats. the component woofers would be tuned to 130hz to 1khz, everything above that would be taken care of by the tweeters...
And for amps i really wouldn't know what to have in the car... I'm not 100% sure what amps are higher power and still maintain a really low THD. I'd probably get a decent JL 1000/1 for the W7 in the back... I might end up getting 2 W7's... but i think if i make a really good box for one i should be fairly set. The amp for the 4 other 6W0's would probably be a 300/4. and of course two 300/4's for the speakers for three in total. Some sort of crossover might be employed but i'm completely inexperienced with that and wouldn't know if it'd cause more problems than its worth.
I think that about covers it. As far as power i'd get Kinetik batterie(s) and of course some sort of upgraded alternators, two if possible. All 0/2 power wire all around. (i'd spend an assload of time trying different setups to reduce alt whine/noise wherever possible while trying to maintain a good power to demand ratio).
Did i miss anything?

The forum is dead because it's the same 5 people in here everyday and every subject has been beaten to death. Then when newbie people do happen to venture in, people bash them for their equipment or not being as intellectually superior as the rest of us. :P

No, they're completely intellectually inferior.
its like we're all regular Joes... well I am anyways, and then we got some of you guys who are like Harvard graduates, then we have the fuckers who have barely the intelligence of a Bonobo ape.

No money?
Escalade ESV
4 Neo Shocker 15s @ 32hz
8 Sundown SAZ3000Ds (Ok, I know they aren't out yet).
Dual 3 way active Rainbow Platinums in the front and one set active in the back. Each set with its own Sundown 100.4 and 100.2
Electrical would have to be sick as well lol but I don't need to go into details.
Forgot HU, well umm I think that crazy ass $800 clarion with a sick 3-way active xover!

And some of us have life to worry about :( I'd love to be able to revamp my stereo a few times over, but I dont have the time/money to work on it that much. After not dealing with audi for 6+ months at a time, you start to forget things. And start not to care.
I figure I'm like a lot of people. Try to do things once, and well, then worry about it in 3 years when something breaks.

my answer hasn't changed a whole lot since the last time we played this little game.
-premier deh-p880prs for the HU
-dls iridium 6.3's or nobelliums 6.2's for the front, haven't had a chance to hear the nobelliums though. rear fill? what rear fill?
-amps would be dls ultimate series, actual amp choice would depend on if i went with the 2 or 3 ways, would definitely include an a6 for the substage
-audiocontrol eq/crossover
-elemental designs 13av.2 dual 2 (haven't heard one, but going on faith, i love my 13kv2's) in a big (~1.5-2 cubes) sealed box
-a whole fuckton of edead or dynamat, whichever ends up being cheaper.

^ Finally, someone for sq. Funny that youve always liked both DLS and eD being that theyre now teamed up. Nothing against anyone else...just not a big focal fan, and definitely not a bandwagon fan either which eliminates jl.
And thank god someone else on here is against rear fill.
Im in the process of building my own dream setup. Ive been saving for it for 2 years now, and the install started yesterday, although between work and school itll probably take a few weeks. All Ive got left to buy is a battery for under the hood and a couple batcap 400s. Without going into too much detail for this forum, it includes nak, dyn, and arc. If an audio meet ever happens again, it might make an appearance. Ive come a hell of a long way since I first joined here, at age 17 rockin a pair of JL W1 15s, which Jesse or John might remember.

I'd love to note other things for quality but unfortunately everyone in tampa just wants the biggest loudest piece of shit escalade possible. I'm jumping on the JL wagon because I like what they sound like, not because of the brand. Give me a few subs to compare, and i'll lean right towards the quality. Loudness is not that important to me.
Why don't you post something not so vague k4rts, instead of making assy comments?

You are taking my words completely out of context. I said that I would PREFER something else that would be of lesser DB's while upping the quality. I'd love to hear some of those companies that sound better while maintaining the power?
I'm not PMing you, we started an open argument, might as well finish it here.
I know for a fact that JL can be loud as balls and maintains some damn good quality. You get what you pay for in that sense. But at the same time i believe its like.... (back in the day) Sony televisions. I mean you knew they were pretty much the shit back then, they were solid performers but were a bit pricey. Meanwhile you could take the risk of spending more or less money on a different brand you probably either never heard of or didnt hear much about, it COULD be 10x better than the Sony? who knows? only the people who decided to take that risk.
I'd like to see unbiased, in depth car audio magazines or websites... problem is people are too fucking biased and their preferences between SPL and SQ ruin everything. Anyone know of any?

my one regret in life is that i don't have those UR6 components and my old a5 amp. damn car pretty much flooded... they were gone.
and talk about humble beginnings, i seem to remember my first system consisted of a pioneer impp 10 in a bandpass box with a pyramid amp (and no crossover. switched out 2 days later for a crunch amp.) on a deh-p6400 (bought for no other reason than it had racecars and dolphins on it).

p057 - your all about sound quality, and your willing to sacrifice spl for it, right? ill name a few subs that have great sound quality and will most likely be cheaper then whatever JL subs you are running. oh and to whoever said i hate jl, i dont. i just hate the fact that everybody thinks jl is the shit and no other company can compare to them. i also hate their prices. :)

Fuckin video card died and I was without a computer for 2 days or I woulda kept up with this thread. This is the most exciting thread Ive seen on TR AHQ in a long ass time.
My W1's were just my humble TR beginning. My first actual system was bandpass JBL 12's.
And although those are all great subs that you just listed k4rts, im not touching the JL argument.

my firsts system was 2 crunch 8" in a banpass box hooked up to a sony 60x2 home amp and a $100 sony deck with $20 pioneer spk. yea i have had the worst system. but as we all know i have come along way
hello sq and the system is finally done and installed. still need to clean up the trunk with nice pannels and little things here and there but it pretty much done. i have my dream system pratically. if i want to go more it just become to crazy. mybey ill do a 2w7 8" and a 500/1 but i think thats the most ill do but if i do that ill have to get another set of z6's and like i said it starts to get to crazy.
