John Force made two test runs this afternoon at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway to test a new roll-cage configuration on the chassis of his Castrol GTX Mustang Funny Car but was unable to induce the hoped-for tire shake on either pass to test the effectiveness and comfort level of the additions before reentering competition at this weekend's SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals.
Evident to those present was additional padding on the inside of the cage, on both sides and above the driver's head, as well as a complete shielding around the back of the roll cage.
Force reported that he felt comfortable in the new configuration, which was one of his concerns. The team plans to make at least one more pass.
