For $70 an hour, I would rather have someone else paint that shit.

Go to your parents house, or someone you know who owns a garage, give them $100 and put plastic over everything and paint that shit there.

lol been there done that, but I would rather have a nice lighted, heated, down draft booth, Makes for a better paint job esp if its for customer work:D

I doubt this guy is painting a customers car.

I agree 100% with you on preferences, but for his needs, a garage-paintbooth is probably the best bet.

ive painted plenty of cars for side jobs in my old garage ... close on my new house finnaly real soon and will be back spraying in the garage as of the end of may... directions for a good garage turned paint booth....
blow the garage out spray the floor with water put down a tarp on the floor spray it with water(light to medium mist ) avoid puddling.... spray 1/2 way up the walls this allows the dust and shit in the air to cling to the watter instead of pluming behind you and sticking to your job pull the car already prepped and blown off in the garage hang a chain from the chassis to the ground(make sure you cut a hole in the tarp so its properly grounded (this stops most static electricity off the car so dust isnt attracted raise the garage about 1 foot hang damp wrags to cover the gap(this allows air to come in and is pretty well filtered open the window or door and put a descent sized fan blowing outwards and hang another tarp so only the fan is exposed this will act as your circulation... one hint epa doesnt like hearing complaints so to minimize the over spray cover the fan area with another damp wrag it will catch most of the overspray.... I have done many many custom award winning paint jobs out of the trusty make shift garage booth you stick to that you will have some good results... sometimes better then a expensive down draft... never had anything come out worse then what comes out at work always real clean... also tack between coats
