99 Legacy GT VS Chrysler Crossfire

on my way home from class in sarasota on wednesday night at about 9 pm on university parkway at the last light before you get onto I-75 (BJ's light)

so he's in the middle lane and i'm in the right hand lane, preparing to get onto the interstate. so he keeps like inching forward like he keeps thinking the light it going to change ( i can see the light.... i'm smart like that and watch it change) so the light changes and he punches it so i get on it quickly thereafter because i thought it was a cop sitting on the side of the road, but it wasn't..

so anyway, we're off and its about even at first, but then he shifts into 2nd and i pull about half of a car on him and just continue to slowly walk on him from there, by the top of my 2nd gear (60 mph) i was atleast a full car on him and he slowed down to get behind me so he could get onto the interstate.....

so the best part is when i get off at fruitville rd to go crash at my parents place (i live in largo) the guy gets off and pulls up next to me at the redlight, rolls down his window and says" hey man, awesome car, i don't feel so bad that i got beat an STI!"

yeah.... so i say, "Thanks man, but i'm not an sti.... i don't have a turbo"

at that point he rolled up his window and wouldn't even look at me as i pulled away.

my car isn't stock... and i wouldn't post a fake story to try and impress a bunch of people i'll most likely never meet.

i've got a lightweight pulley, gutted cat and muffler, and a new intake and k&n filter

what is it that has you guys all on the rag? he probably didn't think i was going to punch it, and i seriously doubt that even if he did, he probably wasn't red-lining it, and/or willing to push his car to the limits. i've got nothing to lose, he hits me, i get a new side-panel and bumper on a car that could use some body work, and if i blow my engine... more of an excuse to go get a new legacy.

so.. dude that didn't think it was worth it to blow his engine or risk a wreck hit his brakes at about 60 (I was at 60 nearly a full car ahead) and got in behind me.

Lol, alrighty then. That sounds probable, yet somehow I think the guy just sucked. Crossfires are roadsters, but not really made to race or anything like that. Not to say they aren't fast, just not tuned for that sort of thing.

i'm confused, is the legacy a race car or tuned as such... last i checked it was a Grand Touring sedan designed for comfort and luxury....

but anyway I just ran into the guy again on monday night, turns out he takes classes at usf in sarasota as well. we got to talking and i got him to go out for a quick rematch there on university and 301 or 41, i don't know which it is... where all of the construction is going on....

anyway, because of the railroad tracks he suggested we do it from a 30 roll and use the railroad tracks as our starting point ("once over the tracks, gun it" were his exact words) and the expected happened. he kicked my ass by about a car and a half up to 80,

got caught at a red light at lockwood ridge rd and we went again, but this time i jumed nearly an entire car length on him immediately, but he started making up the distance pretty quickly and by 80 he had pulled a bumper on me so we(I) shut it down.

quick little car, just not enough power. dude's name was craig, real nice guy, but not the quickest off the line :-P

so there you have it, the re-match. crossfire 2 Legacy 1
oh... and yes he was going all out the first time, one of the things i asked him while we were talking in the parkinglot. he ran out of road and had to shut it down or else hit me.

now i just need to get someone to help me (i need TOOLS!) install my exhaust and the nitrous kit and i'll be set to go seal clubbing, or maybe take on a rex or two after a few track runs :D

when is the next track day? i need to go do this shit legally somewhere, enough with having to worry about the cops...

I have a slightly modded LGT myself & there is no way I'd be on here saying I have a car that is a full 2 seconds quicker to 60 than what anyone else can get out of the car.

BTW.....when is the last time anyone shut down once 60 was reached??

last time 60 was reached and shut down.... hmm, by anyone that doesn't drive a Fast car, or their 2nd gear just happens to top out at 60, or they just like to go fast without the ever increasing danger of getting pulled over by a cop. Hey, i fit all 3 of those!

i don't care what you say, you're less likely to get pulled over and ticketed if you are doing less than 15 over the limit. if this weren't true you wouldn't have the average speed on I-275 being around 75-80 durring non-rush hours

so.... if you're finally done insulting me for things i didn't say, or bashing me for not having as nice of a car as you, i'm going to work, so that later today i can finally get my exhaust and pulley(2nd time) put on later this afternoon.

So this thread was not started by saying you beat a Crossfire??

Stock crossfire is about 2 sec quicker to 60 than your car stock for stock. I'll give you a full second off that time for the mods on your car & the fact your such a skilled driver......

dude, try reading. i beat the crossfire once, from a dead stop, and i definately had the advantage. i'm in an automatic. he was in a manual. I know how to drive my car because i've been driving it for almost 5 years now, he has had his car.... what, at most a year i guess, i don't know when they came out. I had my brakes mashed with my foot on the gas, sitting at about 3,000rpms ready to launch, but he got the hit because i was distracted by what looked to be a cop waiting in the intersection.

the point is... bad driver < good driver

bad driver in a faster car pwned by good driver in average car

and don't tell me you've never seen someone driving a fast car around that doesn't have a clue how to drive it.

............... so where is all this ," OOOH LOOK HE'S LYING HE DOESn"T HAVE A TURBO HE MUST BE LYING!" coming from? sorry i happened to get a good run against someone, who later on came back to beat me twice a few days later when i ran into him again.
