Good idea, but I think it would be better to merge that forum with the newbie meets and greets.

Yea that would also work I was suggesting its own fourm and to make it a little bolder like maybe as soon as they first sign in it takes them there.

Well if I said that it should direct them right to it as soon as there first sign in so they basicly have to read it all first.

There is an FAQ in the Newbie Forum.

I say yes. On another forum i'm a member of they have a noob sections and noobs can only post there as like a trial period and then the admins decide whether they become members or not.

I know this might be impossible but setting something like this can limit reposts and repetitive questions...

I dont see why we couldnt have newbies upon signing up would have to post 25-35 posts before being able to post in certain sections like the tech sections and for sale sections.

This will give them ample time to figure out the posting process if totally nbew to forums, or give them time to find what they need and look through it before posting something that may be covered in previous posts.

It is a easy setup and not that hard on the Admins, Maybe setup a forum with two subs in it,

Newbie Forum - Main
Introductions - Sub
Q&A - Sub

Give rights to those posts until the posts count is over a certain number...

how are you going to restrict someone from seeing stuff??? what if their not a noob??? than they have to do that shit again? it takes someone a whole 5 seconds to explain to a noob whats going on... so if theres 1 noob that signs up and than he's the only noob that is going to be posting... what if they just wanna come in here explore and look around?? and post on members rides or something? they gotta do the whole process screening and shit? this isnt jail? i think you all are trying way to hard. Repost are always going to happen someone isnt going to go look through 32590239 post to find their answer when they can simply just ask real quick and get flammed for a bit but they'll get the answer out of it. you guys are just looking at the tip of the iceberg you need to go under water to see what else it will effect.

That sounds good to me. If you wanna check out an example DSMtuners.com is the website i was talking about.

And yes limit posting to the noobs forum but still allow them access to search and read in the various tech forums. That way they can still learn a few things. And like you said as they receive a certain number of posts gradually allow them into some of the tech and various forums.

But take this into consideration as well ** and one word comments don't count as posts** And make that know they just dont post crap to get into the forums.

+1...They should not be able to post in the Tech forums until i think 50 posts in other forums. This way they should be well familiar with the system.

hopefully the mods dont listen to you all because i know if i was a noob and came onto this site and it had me as restricted i wouldnt come back.

This is why I think the post limit should be around 20-25 posts.

Not enough to discourage membership, but enough to make sure they have spent some time on the forum and should know the routine by then.

I wouldnt restrict them from viewing every single forum on TR, just restrict them from posting anywhere but the newb forum, video, meets and greets, all of the forums except tech and for sale. I think after the 20-25 posts they would be able to post anywhere on TR...

Would really like for another mods opinion, and for an Admin to either advise us this is plausible, or its too hard to implement into the already running smooth system we have now.
