View Full Version : Question...
Hey All,
So i put skunk 2 springs on my whip with some brand new oem spec KYBs. and im satisfied with the back drop. I just dont like the front. Its still a little too high for me. So i was wondering about just buying some cheap ebay front coilovers to drop the front down about an extra inch.
So the question is...Since i have new shocks, it wont be such a big deal to put ebay coilovers on the front right? Or should i just spend the extra 100 or so bucks and buy 2 skunk 2 front coilovers?
Thanks in advance.

don't cut them, and when did you put them on?
my H&Rs took forever to settle like, months, but i'm happy now, are you sure you didn't swap front and back?

If you do it right, I don't see a problem cutting only 1.5 coils off.
Two of the first 3 coils usually don't even flex, they are just there to add height and stability.
Now if you were cutting 3+ coils off, I'd have to disagree.
A Dremel with diamond carbide bits will do the job very well.
Once the spring is cut, Just apply some paint to keep the spring end from rusting.
If you want help and that's your last resort, PM me and I can help.

There are coilovers and there are *adjustable* coilovers.
You probably have "coil over/around the shock" coilovers right now.
That is what most FWD's have. That is what most people mean when they say "coilovers".
If you put "adjustable" coilovers on, you can not only set the ride height where you want it for now, but if the springs sag later, you can
compensate by adjusting it again, later.
If you go lower than a certain amount, (and I don't know precisely what it will be until I measure a particular car), you probably will need a camber kit so the tires don't get eaten.......and with some MFG's you have to buy their brand coilovers or else their brand springs won't work without trashing your shocks.-Bob
