View Full Version : For all us SQ car lovers ;)
Been looking for a few good songs to grab to test my car's stereo lately. I've found a good site so far with a few random tracks, sound interesting and testing them out on my home stereo first, they sound pretty good.
((stereo test kit)) Audrey, Boy Omega, Musika 77, Pajo, we are soldiers we have guns (http://www.stereotestkit.com/)
Anyone know what good Bands/CDs/whatever are extremely good for maxing out a stereo's capabilities to find weak spots? I know Toby likes to use a few Evanescence tracks to show a car's true weak spots due to the female vocals and the rough hitting guitars.
And one of my personal favorites is pretty much anything in Massive Attack's collections (especially Mezzanine), if your stereo can happily play more than 90% of it, its a good stereo.
Also anyone know any other sites like these but geared even more toward straight stereo testing?
:D

Bach will point out up so many flaws in your system you will think you bought durabrand speakers and used a AA to power them.
I'm not talking about the radio either - get a nice 320kbp rip off BT. I never touch that CD because every time I do I always end up with new mids, new headunit, and totally rewiring my car.

I FINALLY finished quad maximus.
I'll add it to my bass test cd later.
I'll try downloading bach. That actually sounds like it'll ruin my system:crack: but i really want to give it a go, i have some high hopes!:strong:
So far everything i've been throwing at it sounds good to great, almost near toby's lexus quality (minus having that whole "center" feeling and the fact that if he throws a 5.1 cd in there it will destroy my system).

its a lot easier to do things like that when u run the shop

yeh...
Anyways, got around to finishing some sweet 256kbps bitrate Bach violin orchestra pieces. I gotta say WOW this will really max the system out (trying it out on my PC setup right now) Its fully utilizing the entire spectrum, deep lows, lows, mids, mid highs and highs... ugh its sweet. If i wasn't so damn lazy to get up and go outside i'd be trying this shit out now.
I also downloaded some cello pieces but it sounded like the dude recorded it off a tape. Theres way too much background hiss and it sounded like it was also recorded in mono =S. Too bad too because that cello would have pwned.

bach is good for sq
so is sarah maglocklan(cant spell her name sorry) surffacing cd is great look for angel
also "kissing you" on the romeo and juliet soundtrack is great for mids and highs. <- i love the female vocals on this track
Got through listening to Bach on the way to work and back, the entire 20 track 7 minute each song CD... hahaha.
It sounded awesome! i was really impressed and although i would love even more mids, it still sounded great.
At first when i got in the car, i put it in the stereo and then put a drink in my cupholder and when i got out of the neighborhood out on the street i turned up the volume... heard a very faint hiss in the background. I was like damn, i really thought they recorded this well... Well when i got to work an hour later i found out the bitch was at 15 volume (which is usually intolerable to me on any other cd i have). Apparently it was recorded too low. =[ that or i burned the cd with low volume again like an idiot.
Regardless, violins, plucked cellos, pianos, and an assortment of other stringed instruments sounded sex. Many thanks to the guy who recommended it ;)
I'd love to hear something with more mids to mid lows. Thats where i need a little more work on the tuning.

Chips Ahoy cookies theme song from back in the day (on their commercials). No clue what it's called, but it's along the lines of swing music. I use to always use it to tune my systems.

Swing jazz is the cat's pajamas. I've always liked it. I think one of my favorite bands that tried to "restore" (i guess you could say) the art of that music.
Squirrel Nut Zippers
I remember on my old system it sounded pretty bad ass, it can only sound better on this one. Only problem is finding tracks that sound real good (in terms of bitrate and recording quality)
The IASCA cd is on OINK. I think I'll burn it for the hell of it.

isnt it funny how you listen to way different music when you have a good sounding system - did you think you would even be listening to that stuff in a factory system, just think what you would be listen to in a system that did 164.4 db !@!
