i have a pioneer 10" sub that i plan on putting in my car. the box (that it came in not the one its going in) says 600w max and 120w nominal. what size amp should i use? why doesnt it have rms watts on it? what would be a good amp in that wattage? thanks

something around 200-275 rms Pioneer subs IMO are way underrated power handling wise.

nominal power is its rated RMS input. Go for an amp with twice that amount in RMS output.

Brand is up to you. try to avoid pyle, pryamid, road thunder, sony, lightning audio, mobile authority, or any amp from walmart, public, or big lots.

not really but thats up to you.

just stay away from the ones mentioned plus lanzar, profile, or any weird brand name selling for way less than what you'd think on ebay.

Think of it like this, if the amp is a foot long by 8" high and about 4" thick and it claims 2500 watts and is "retailing" for 170 bucks, you might want to stay away from it.

Brands i happen to like quite a bit are Polk, Diamond, Kenwood, Phoenix Gold,
And better-than-OK brands are -- RF, Infinity, Alpine, Pioneer, Eclipse

of course these are in terms of sound quality, build quality, and cost vs wattage ratio. I'm not even going to bother putting JL or Kicker here since we all know what I think of them.

the eclipse i have is a strong good amp. look for them if you want a strong mid to low high end amp. it all depends on what you want to go for.
