Well are you running front speakers and rear speakers or only fronts.
Either way I think I'd only buy a 4 channel, more power to my front and usually the ability to go active.

lol. The million dollar question, do you want to amp 2 speakers or 4 speakers. That should pretty well answer things.

I agree with TBspyder...in addition it would be smart to get a amp that had low pass filters to allow only those high feqs to get to those speakers.

I have a two channel driving all four of my speakers at 8ohms. Sound a lil cleaner to me. But if your speakers arent balanced then it wont sound good.

4 channels are a waste of money, imo, unless you are doing active crossovers.
Say you have 4, 4 ohm speakers. A 4x50 will give you 50 watts to each. So will a 2x50, that doubles into 2 ohms (most do). All you will lose is fade control.
As rhart says, getting one with an active crossover is good. Nearly all good 2 and 4 channel amps have those, though.

Exactly...unless your running all component or something to that affect. Its all in how complicated or simple you want to make it.
I have two twin amps powering two sets of speakers (fronts and rears). Its really overkill since all i need is really one amp, but the speakers are completely different and if i power them off the same amp I will ALWAYS have to trade off features in order to give one an advantage, that and the speakers themselves have different "volumes" i guess. My fronts are much, much lower.
I have a 4 channel amp, that i liked to use and would use again if it weren't for the fact that it didn't look good at all and it introduced noise into my stereo (alternator like whine) if i connected it in there. So i'm saving it to power two 10"s in the future.
If they're the same speakers or very similar, i'd definitely get the 2ch amp.
it would be used to power 4 speakers. i believe i got polks in the front and kenwoods in the back. so the best choice is to just buy a 2 ch amp. i got a 2ch right now powering them but its taking a crap on me i think, i can barely hear the fronts anymore. anyone selling a decent 2 ch?
