Hey guys,
My bro just got an indash installed in his car. Where can I buy a dummy plate that goes over it when hes parked to keep it out of sight?

I think it'd be a pain to find/get for a car that it doesnt come with some sort of stock offering, otherwise i'd say junkyard/one of the for sale forums in the proper tech forum/dealership.

depends on the unit but usually you either have to buy a pulse interrupter or use a toggle on the e-brake wire.It tricks the unit making it think that the e-brake is on.Hope this helps.Oh and if you use a toggle the other wire must go to ground.

Back in the day, we used to take factory radios apart, and mke the face plate into a cover for the aftermarket unit.

Can you elaborate more on the face plate covers and toggles?

he means take apart the stock headunit and glue all the button faces into place and put it over the aftermarket unit

tell him the only bypass he needs is to bypass using that deck :p

Just kidding, try grounding the ebrake wire(as in connect it to the negative power wire) if that doesnt work, try tapping it to the ground while the unit is on and see if it works. if it does then u will need a togglt switch to turn on and off.

haha its not a bad unit, it was cheap enuf and hes happy. Works fine. And I see what u mean by toggle switch now, sounds like fun.

The 8181 is a pretty neat unit, especially for the price. The 8182 adds full Ipod control and dolby 5.1. Dalton's just a headunit racist...if he doesn't like something, no one else should, either :-)

That unit will need a toggle switch to ground...it wants to see ground, open, ground, (ebrake on, ebrake off, ebrake back on). You only need to do it once per ignition cycle, though.
