View Full Version : Gainesville Raceway Test & Tune needs drivers.
Don't let this series die, please go.
Only $40, no coursework, no cones, pretty much unlimited runs.
FYI this may be the last event we hold. The turnout has not made this a profitable event so far and if we can't get around 50 drivers for the next one, we are probably going to axe it.
SO COME ON OUT!!

and this is when? a date would help..
IS this the Feb 10th event? Because the problem is there is a Big Euro car Time Distance Rally that day.
I think for this event to be successful, they need to get buy in from other clubs so there are no conflits with schedules.
It's on Feb 10th.

Well if I were to run the event I say that the price will vary $40 to $50.. if there are less than 50 cars its $50 each.. to help offset the lack of cars. Its still not a bad deal since the lower car number means more driving . Since the rest of the events are 2 weeks before the BMWCCA events I will definatly try to start coming out to them. Plus i will mention this at the BMW meetings.

That sounds like fun! J, any info on registration? I checked the website but it didn't say anything about "Register here!" Am I to understand we just show up and pay?

is there timing equipment? or is it basically tons of fun runs?
No timing equipment. A lot of people bring a friend with a stop watch.
I am pretty sure you just show up and pay the day of the event.

Very casual and fun event for some quick seat time, maybe some test & tune if you need to make and test adjustments.
Show up and pay. No timing. No course working! Just line up and take a run... then line up and take another. Jeff & I went to one and each of us took 10 runs... in about an hour and a half. Decided that was sufficient (entry fee was $30 for that one) and called it a day. You could easily get in 20-30 runs if you stuck with it.

Would be so much better if they allowed ~4 laps per run or something.
I don't really consider a single cold lap every 10-20 minutes a 'test n tune' :(
I'm sure I'll make it out some day.
I agree with bam2002. Charge based on attendance. No reason to stop having them. You want the price lower, get more people to come!
I'd pay $100 for 4 hours with 10 other cars...

Very good point, maybe like a warm up lap, 4 full-out runs and a cool down lap. So a total of 6 laps. If you guys can get in 15-20 laps in less than a hour-half just doing one at a time, why not take 6 at a time and maybe have 3-4 people on track at same time(havent been to the track myself so i dont know how many people could be on it at once). For those who have been to this track, is something possible and that we can bring up to the people who run it?

This looks like useful seat time to me.
I'll probably try camping somewhere nearby to try and keep it within my nonexistant budget. Anyone know a place they'd recommend?

Is your car stripped? If so just throw a inflatable matress and your favorite blow up doll in the back and call it a night!

They allow passengers at these gigs? Was thinking this looks like a great event to be learned by a more experience driver:)

Hah, no. It's my daily/only car.
I've got a friend who doesn't live too far from GIR, but he's out of town a lot lately. Plus I like camping.

I wouldnt mind camping out sometime. It would have to be in a couple months though...buying a house soon so I cant spend any extra money:crack:
I think you have to be a licensed SCCA or NASA road racer to be a passenger.

Is there a limit to how many cars can attend. I'm just worried about showing up and being turned back. No pre-pay? Or is it first come first serve? What time is kickoff?

I'd also like ot know if there is a "limit". I'd love to make it out if there wasn't one. I'm just afraid of showing up and being turned away.
I need to go get some better rubber and head out for this
might be a good chance to get some seat time in the STi and learn how it works.
