Is lakeland really one of the best 1/8's around?
I won't judge, since I've only been to Sunshine and over the past few years it has improved alot.

Before being closed, lakeland was one of the best hooking tracks around and was the only track with concrete barriers.Sunshine,BMP,Osw dint have concrete barriers till this year,Just lakeland had them. Rotarys dont blow up ,ppl just think because they see a little flame coming out the hood it automatically blew up when in reality all that is is a stupid nitrous back fire.I never see nobody complaining and crying when the 4sec rotary goes to sunshine and run 4sec passes non stop. But this is a non rotary hating thread just a heads up on lakeland. so lets just keep it there plz.

When there are sunday events they turn lakeland into the best hooking track, period. Osw and Slumshine will never be as good as lakeland hooking wise. So i guess you are the one in crack racing_rocks

dude! i had it right the first time! lmao
lakeland is the slip n slide track!!!! you've obviously never been to a track that hooks!!!!! just go over to SUNSHINE (not slumshine as you say) and walk on the track! it'll pull your shoes off of your feet if you're not carefull! and that's a fact!!!!!! lakeland doesnt even grab on to your shoes anytime!!!!!!!
oh and hows it gonna be open by the 25th when just 2 weeks ago the launch area was cracked and busted and torn all to hell????
you say they've been rebuilding everything while it's been closed? they havent done a damn thing to it!!!! go out there and look for yourself!!
it looked like an old western gohst town with tumble weeds blowing around a couple weeks ago! lmao

i live just down the road from the lakeland track, and i've been there all the time! i also went to tracks all over the state with my bud and his mustang race car. no matter what you guys say, BMP and sunshine are the best hooking tracks anywhere near here, hands down!!! there's only been a couple times that they even put half as much stuff on the track at lakeland as they're supposed to, and that was just t get people to think it was gonna get better and then they went back to the slip and slide again.
my friend almost crashed the mustang because they only treated the track halfway down and then when he hit the other side, his car spun around and almost flipped! he came back and said it was almost like he hit water or something!

lol he's not far off!!!!! i went out and checked it out this evening and it's in really bad shape! lol i didnt see the tumble weeds but it was pretty run down and looked abandoned! lol the track is cleaned up a lil from how it was for the last truck thing, but it's in really rough shape.
but anyway, this is for everyone that has been calling and pm'n me all weekend about the track opening back up. i was gonna post a thread about it and then i just saw this one so i'll put this in here, as long as sakurafms1 doesnt mind me cutting in his thread. ;) by the way sak, who are you? do i know ya???
but anyway, i checked things out with the top brass to see what all the rumors are all about and this is what i got.
roy has leased the track to a rican guy for 6 mos., and he got david to help him out and run the track for him. now david is a really good guy that knows how to run a track! since roy has no say in how it's run now, more than likely the track will be preped propperly so people wont be crashing n stuff! lol
there's a big diff between using 3gals. and 12 gals of VHT on an 1/8 mile track!!! :D (no offence roy! :D we still love ya!!! :) )
but yeah, the track IS REALLY OPENING!!!!!!!!! i know, it's hard to beleive, but it's true!!! :D we will soon have our thurs. night place to play back again!!!!!! :D and yes, it's supposed to open the 25th, but if it is, they gotta be working their butts off to get it ready!!!!!!
good luck, to david, and the rican guy (i dont know your name lol )!!!!! :D
maybe if any of us can help, just give a yell!!!!!! ;)
well guys, there ya have it, right from the top! ;)
everyone get ready to go out and have some fun again! :D

I won't judge, since I've only been to Sunshine and over the past few years it has improved alot.
It has always worked for us as well as Sunshine has, for a test and tune session. Actually, for a few cars, they ran quicker at Lakeland than at Sunshine. The problem is that it has a really short shutdown, and real fast cars with any kind of weight to them can't really run there...safely. We took a 3200lb car running 5.0s @ 150, single parachute, and just about wore the brakes off the car in 2 passes. I've seen cars running 4.60s, but they're much lighter, and still are just about making that last turnoff on 2 right tires.

Pulling your shoes off is sometimes the worst damn track to deal with.

*Edit. We didn't take any fast cars to Lakeland in the last year, so if it had declined as some people mentioned, we missed that part!!!

LMFAO I'm sorry bout how ignorant and biased can you get? You dont know bullshit about those cars but you are still talking out of your ass like if you knew every single shit that they have. Their have been aton of 4sec rotary runs in lakeland but like I said you are too ignorant to take the time and do a little bit of reaserch before acting like a dumbass. Also how the hell can a 1200lbs car trap a 140+mph 150mph+ 1/8? IF you do your math you would knowthet a car that only weight 1200lbs would only have to do about a 100mph to run a 4sec run in the 1/8 buddy. lol my uncle's track just got named best hooking track in the whole southeast by drag coverage.com right after the big winter madness event! :D
he is very strict about how they prep the track up there though!
there were a few really fast pro mods that went almost 2 tenths faster there than they ran at holt a couple weeks before!
BMP and sunshine prep their tracks alot like my uncle does, and you're very right! gainsville is one of the best tracks anywhere!!!! it's just kinda far from here (just like my uncle's track! lol)
lakeland will prob hook ok since david will be running it, although it has been really hard to hook out there in the past! lol when my D series integra spins most of the way down the track, you know it's not hooking very well! lmao

Hey I did the math (5 variables), looks like a car would have to go 0-100mph in .97 seconds and then stop accelerating just to run in the 4's.
Oh, and weight didnt' factor into those equations one bit, buddy.

Does this mean that the rotaries will leave sunshine? There are seriously to many of them out at sunshine for test and tune.
To the guy that said they don't blow up --- you're nuts. If they didn't blow up so much they wouldn't be required to have diapers would they? I know only a few of them ran this wednesday at sunshine bacause of that.
I am glad to hear they opened lakeland I get so tired of hearing about tracks closing but no new ones opening. Hope they make some nice improvements out there and get the track in good shape. Be cool to have some events out there.

They are making everyone that runs a certain time and under wear diapers. Its a NHRA rule as off 07 that every single type of car that run below a certain required time must have a diaper or some sort of catch pan. So its no just the rotarys, So what if their be rotarys running in a test n tune. There be hondas,domestics,dtm's,etc... running in a test n tune. Thats y they made test n tunes so everyone could go and TEST what they have. All this rotary bs is all biased crying ,

I am to the point that I don't care if I have a 3.0 60ft time, I just want to get back to the track. I use to have alot of fun out there in my slow car and can't wait to get back.
I'll come up there and give you some competition for the 3 second sixty foot club. I can't drive this civic for for shit.

yes! positivity!!! we WILL be able to race. the road downtown where i live are drying, but coud be due too the heavy traffic. im almost certain well be racing tonight.....Dean....you think i could get a run againt that wheel pullin monster? lol
Hopefully my car will start with this weather, I was trying out a couple of new ECU chips I had just burnt and it didn't want to fire up or idle at all. I had to peddle it until it got warm before it would settle down. I almost got stranded at Bradenton last Friday leaving the bike night TNT because of the same thing. Almost had to bust out the AAA card for the tow. It doesn't like the cold.

OMG!!!! car count was over 300cars and they still kepted coming in. It was crazy packed. Too bad they where having problems with all the sensors and the christmas light. If it was that pack today imagine next week with all the rain checks that where given out. Best run of the night was the Red rotary starlet wich was like a mid to high 5sec run going all over the place. Guy gots some serious balls being the 1st one to run on the track with such a powerfull car,. Too bad the yellow camaro had an accident.Hope the guy is alright. Overall it wasnt a bad night great to be back in the local track.Cant wait till next week

1st car that went down the track was around 8.15pm wich was the rotary starlet.
That blew goats, froze my ass off, paid money, and didn't get to run. I finally gave up and left with my rain check and time card for next week at about 9:15pm. Hopefully they'll get their shit together by next thursday.
On a positive note, I did get to shoot the breeze with turbome and chuck for a while.
Seemed like the whole county was out there to run, I was lucky to find a parking spot.
It was good to see a great turn out and its a real shame about the timing system. I understand everything worked great until the rains came. All in all everyone seemed to be happy just to have the track open again. But I'd guess that honeymoon wont last forever.
I also saw that mazda go down the track i thoght it may have been a low 4 second pass until he crossed the centerline almost wrecked, thankfully there were no cars faster than that there last night because he would have wrecked them both.
Thanks to all who showed up and the NEW management their support

I was kinda pissed, got off work early, headed to lakeland, got there, went to turn in "driver slip" and she comes out with this look on her face like she's seen a ghost... no more runs guys, we're done... OMG, didn't get to run the car, left work early (probably written up for) but got 3 free rainchecks so all is good.
