Default D series transmission problem!

Well I was swapping my transmission today and last time I did it it took about 3 hours, everything went smooth it was EASY EASY EASY. This time everything goes wrong, now everything is all in and bolted up and I go to put my drivers side hub on and the whole motor needs to go about 1/2" to the passenger side because the CV axel is to long. Tired and in the dark with no lights I worked on the probem for about 4 hours and just couldn't get it. So anyone ever had this weird problem happen and have a solution?

there's your problem right there.no lights and you being tired.anyways.is it the same tranny you had before?not too familiar with d series so I don't know if the trannys are different lenghts.check your mounts and make sure your putting the axels in right.g/l with it though!

No all D series everything is the same, it's not the transmission I had in it before but it is the correct transmission for the car.. I have an SI and am now putting an SI back in it, I was running a VX for a few months.

Yup he was right LOL, had some more problems to, but thanks to Matt and Chris (clean teg and I dunno what Chris's name is on here) it back up and running, but it is having a weird problem.. I personally don't think it is the transmission but when downshifting it makes a grinding sound when you have your foot off the gas and are just letting the tranmission slow it down but when you are accelerating or cruising it does fine.. what could that be? It doesn't grind going in or out of any gears just when you downshift and let it slow itself down.
